Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe interpretation of seismic data incorporating an analysis of amplitude variations with offset was proved to be indispensable in terms of the hydrocarbon prospecting in many areas. The aim of the PhD thesis was to test different AVO attributes of seismic data in terms of the identification of natural gas accumulations in the Miocene formation of the Carpathian Foredeep. The performed model-based tests of the following AVO attributes: intercept-gradient-curvature, fluid factor, elastic impedance, extended elastic impedance, Poisson impedance, polarization attributes and estimates of material constants allowed us to determine their effectiveness as direct gas indicators. The additional issues covered by the thesis were the simulations concerning an influence of random noise and angular spectrum of common-depth gather on the reliability of the estimates of the AVO attributes. The conclusions derived from the analyses of the model data allowed us to indicate the weak and good points of a particular AVO attribute in various geological conditions. The application of the mentioned attributes on the analysis of the chosen seismic data (both 2D and 3D) from the area of the Carpathian Foredeep allowed us not only to unambiguously confirm the positive character of some observed seismic anomalies, but also to indicate potential directions towards which future studies concerning an AVO analysis should be faced.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Aplikacja inwersji Q do zdjęcia sejsmicznego 3D – ocena efektywności(Data obrony: 2011-07-18) Badora, Damian
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaIn the study area of Duza Wolka, 3D a seismic survey was carried out, and in the center of this area Vertical Seismic Profiling in the hole S - 421A was taken. The seismic data received from Zechstein interval are characterized by low frequencies. This is caused by attenuation tracks of Triassic rocks. Vertical Seismic Profiling, namely the registered downgoing wave, allows to determine attenuation characteristics of the medium. Based on the analysis of downgoing wave, Q factor for each layer was estimated and then Q inverse filter for the two seismic profiles was applied, these profiles crossing well S – 421A was selected from 3D seismic survey. The aim of inversion application was to improve seismic data quality, especially timewindow (750 – 1300 ms). Improving of seismic data quality based on the vertical resolution increasing. In this case better resolution may be obtained by increasing the amplitude spectrum in high frequencies pass.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , „Geode” (Geometrics) inżynierski sejsmiczny system pomiarowy, parametry, budowa blokowa, przykłady zastosowania(Data obrony: 2010-07-29) Cygal, Adam Mikołaj

Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaDigitally enhanced OLI Landsat 8 images were applied for mapping of North Waziristan Pakistan. The territory is rough and without rich vegetation; the exposure of the Waziristan ophiolite, related sedimentary lithologies and inaccessibility to the area made the utilization of Landsat information helpful in this investigation. In the remote sensing investigation, Landsat 8 OLI data were used to make band ratios, band combinations, principal component and image classification methods. Multispectral images were prepared and investigated for this study. On the basis of the image classification techniques; unsupervised classification, five principle lithological units are marked which are giving satisfactory results (about 63.07 %.) when compared with referenced geological map using confusion matrix analysis. The outcomes are very satisfied and need to examine about the utility and confinements of remote sensing strategy on the investigation zone. Further to confirm the results of unsupervised classification, extra investigations might be helpful. As a results, issues confronted during the classification must be considered into all general accuracy.Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Imaging of near surface velocity heterogeneities by means of refraction tomography(Data obrony: 2007) El Zawam, Nasar
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe main goal of the doctor thesis is the estimation of the effect of the parameters of seismogeological models of low velocity layer, parameters of seismic acquisition and parameters of tomographic inversion on results of head waves first arrivals inversion and on the accuracy of field statics estimation using model data simulating standard reflection land records. The presented work has mainly the form of model study but some results of field data processing are presented too. The input model data were constructed using the advanced processes of seismic data processing system ProMAX® and the original Fortran programs constructed in the Department of Geophysics (University of Science and Technology AGH, Faculty of Geology, Geophysics & Environmental Protection). The tomographic inversion of turning wave arrivals was realized using ProMAX® tomographic processes. The tomographic inversion of head wave arrivals was realized using original Fortran programs constructed in the Department of Geophysics. It was confirmed that for the discussed models of low velocity layer the head wave tomography based on first breaks inversion of typical land records may be treated as a effective tool of field statics estimation although the vertical resolution of resulting velocity fields is relatively very weak.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Interpretacja badań VSP z offsetem w rejonie Duża Wólka(Data obrony: 2011-07-11) Cichostępski, Kamil

This master's thesis represents structural interpretation of Rudka 3D seismic survey in order to ilustrate tectonic strctures in Sieniawa-Rudka area.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wykorzystanie atrybutów sejsmicznych w interpretacji badań sejsmicznych o podwyższonej rozdzielczości otrzymanych na złożu siarki w Osieku(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Lędzka, Joanna; Ślusarczyk, RyszardIn his paper the evaluation of possibilities for seismic attributes in interpretation of high-resolution seismic section from sulphur mine in Osiek has been undertaken. Exploitation of sulphur deposits by melting with special well-system can destroys surface and water-bearing level. These threats could be reduced by safe exploitation, in which sulphur melting and processes connected with it are under permanent control. The application of periodic seismic profiling helps us define changes in formation resulting from the exploitation. The information is very important both in planning exploitation and in environment protection. Using seismic attributes gives us a better representation of deposits and overburden, and changes subsequent to exploitation too.
