Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Metoda wykrywania i usuwania konfliktów graficznych powstałych w procesie automatycznej generalizacji kartograficznej(Data obrony: 2008) Żukowska, Maria
Wydział Geodezji Górniczej i Inżynierii ŚrodowiskaThe subject of this thesis is generation of graphic conflicts by shape simplifying cartographic algorithms. Three main goals were formulated: scientific (research of possibilities of objective drawing recognizability criterion usage in graphic conflicts identification and resolving), practical (study on algorithms providing graphic conflicts resolving and their implementation, in needs of the method's verification) and economic (related to maps generation at any scale range from unique reference database). The following thesis was advanced: the modified drawing recognizability criterion usage in objects buffering enables unambiguous identification and elimination of graphic conflicts, arisen in digital cartographic generalization. The thesis covers the following scope: analysis of existing solutions, defining of conflicts, conditions to be met and elements required for their identification, as well as developing of conflicts detection and resolving method. In requirement of the method verification a program (that is the method's implementation in C++) was written. The comparison between Chrobak's method simplification and simplification combined with graphic conflicts resolving method was made. The method accuracy analysis, showing that the obtained results conform to specifications stated in polish technical instructions related to geographic maps editing, was performed.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Obiektywna metoda upraszczania krzywych a niespójności topologiczne(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Żukowska, MariaExisting global curve simplifying algorithms, such as Douglas-Peucker algorithm or Chrobak method, despite many advantages, not free from topological inconsistencies are. These point - point, point - line and line - line collisions (where line - line collisions can into selfintersections or intersections of at least two separate curves divided be) could be. There also a problem connected with some elements relative position changing is. Some propositions, that at such inconsistencies solving drive, examined in this paper are. Among them original curve partitioning into segments and star-shaped regions, which would independently simplified be (which selfintersections avoiding enables in turn), and relative position changing investigating with a triangle built of examined segment chord and its relative extremum (like the one in the Chrobak simplifying method used), are.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Resolving of internal graphic conflicts of broken lines, which shape is subject to simplification(2009) Żukowska, MariaJednym z elementów automatyzacji procesu generalizacji kartograficznej jest uproszczenie kształtu obiektów. Przeprowadzone testy pozwalają sądzić, iż przedstawiony w artykule algorytm, oparty na wspomnianych wielkościach i warunkach, w dużej mierze rozwiązuje poruszony problem konfliktów wewnętrznych.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wybrane metody tematycznej wizualizacji kartograficznej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Żukowska, MariaAmong many various cartographic visualization methods thematic maps are definitely standing out. One of them are cartogrammic mapping techniques, which are used to depict statistical surface with areal signs. Some phenomenon average intensity in spatial units boundaries they show. Two cartogrammic mapping techniques: choropleth and dasymetric mapping in the paper are discussed. Using cartogrammic methods numerical values either in discrete or continuous manner is shown. Usually cartogrammic techniques are used to present relative values, what is a simple consequence of being presented in reference to spatial units boundaries. In the paper the fact, that diversified reference units size can lead to distorted map perception is mentioned, what makes the reference units choice as one of the most essential problems. Apart from that some other problems that can influence the choropleth maps creation correctness are shown, among them rating ranges and color scale choosing. In the paper some analytic, graphic and iterative range constructing methods are presented. Also some choropleth mapping disadvantages are discussed, which the dasymetric mapping is decreasing. Several dasymetric techniques are described as well. Treating dasymetric method as one of the areal interpolation problems, especially in American literature, is mentioned.
