The mining sulfur in the Tarnobrzeg region led to the degradation of the natural environment, mainly the soil contamination and surface and ground waters by sulfur compounds. The most polluted and also the most difficult to land reclamation should be considered, especially in areas occurring after the hole of sulfur exploitation. The areas after the exploitation of sulfur, according to the principle of sustainable development and the requirements of the „Geological and Mining Law” have been subjected to remediation. The aim of the study was to assess the state of the soil environment in after the hole of sulfur exploitation of mine hole „Jeziórko” and opencast mine „Machów” in Tarnobrzeg. The paper presents an evaluation was made on the basis of laboratory tests soil samples. Results of research have confirmed efficiency of method in both cases (accidentally) recultivation. It is repair changes in environment simply, which is visible („Machów” ), than this which be placed under surface of field („Jeziórko” ).
