Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Agricultural income and prices - the interdependence of selected phenomena in Poland compared to EU-15 member states(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Czyżewski, Andrzej; Kryszak, ŁukaszThe aim of this paper was to analyze the changes in various agricultural income measures in Poland since 2004 as compared to the situation of the EU-15 member states. Another objectivewas to examine the mentioned changes against prices. The main source of income data was the FADN database. Incomes of agricultural holdings in Poland are significantly lower than of those in most of the analyzed member states, however, this is the result of their smaller average area - their efficiency per hectare is relatively high. Polish agricultural holdings are also characterized by their comparatively small dependence on payments (although this is growing). Agricultural incomes are highly unstable, which refers to changes in price relations. This instability is particularly evident in countries with smaller farms and, thus, lower income per farm.Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Assessment of perceptual video quality affected by acquisition and bit-rate reduction artifacts(Data obrony: 2011-12-12) Romaniak, Piotr
Wydział Elektrotechniki, Automatyki, Informatyki i ElektronikiThis dissertation deals with the problem of the perceptual video quality assessment for video content. A huge increase in popularity of video-based services over recent years has raised unsolved quality assurance problems. Video service providers cannot afford the risk of going to market with a sub-standard video offer and need to manage their quality problems. Competition between providers is fierce and the key to success is to provide a service with the highest possible level of user satisfaction (QoE - Quality of Experience). The thesis is proven by proposing a set of no-reference video quality metrics and demonstrating their high performance in terms of a correlation with end users' experience. Three stages of the end-to-end video delivery chain were addressed, namely video acquisition, compression, and service environment including end users' preferences. The metrics were verified using subjective experiments and objective models were derived upon the results. The obtained results show that the reliable video quality assessment can be realized using no-reference metrics, for video-based services using H.264/AVC compression, and in a real-time for standard definition video. High performance in terms of a correlation with end users' experience was obtained for a diversified video content.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The application of a noise mapping tool deployed in grid infrastructure for creating noise maps of urban areas(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Szczodrak, Maciej; Kotus, Józef; Czyżewski, Andrzej; Kostek, BożenaThe concept and implementation of the system for creating dynamic noise maps in PL-Grid infrastructure are presented. The methodology of dynamic acoustical map screating is introduced. The concept of noise mapping, based on noise source and propagation models, was developed and employed in the system. The details of incorporation of the system to the PL-Grid infrastructure are presented. The results of simulations performed by the system prototype are depicted. The results in the form of noise maps obtained by a system are compared with some other solutions in order to investigate accuracy.
