Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of compressor units – operational issues(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Kurdziel, Franciszek; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kalwar, Adam; Grzywnowicz, Grzegorz; Zdobytskyi, AndriyThe characteristics of compressor chiller operation for the generation of cooling for the central systems of mine air-conditioning installations are presented. The modes of operation of the units and their use in the final stage of chilled-water cooling are described. The construction of the screw compressor and the compression methods are discussed. The actual use of compressors in the third stage of chilled water generation is analyzed. The free-cooling installation as a solution for supporting chilled-water generation is presented.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of external factors that affect availability of gas engines(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Kalwar, Adam; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kurdziel, Franciszek; Grzywnowicz, Grzegorz; Marikutsa, UlianaThe factors that directly affect the operation of the gas-fired internal combustion engines that are used in grid-connected generators are presented. Those factors that hinder their operation are also presented, along with ways to solve problems at the operating stage. Our conclusions are also presented for the future that can be used in further projects of cogeneration installations.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of methane as energy fuel – operational issues(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Kalwar, Adam; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kurdziel, Franciszek; Grzywnowicz, Grzegorz; Melnyk, MykhayloIssues that are related to the operation of cogeneration generators that are powered by gas engines that use mine gas as a fuel are presented. Gas engines are increasingly being used to drive electric generators; in such an application, gas is used as a fuel, whether it is mine gas, coke oven gas, septic tank gas, or mains natural gas. In an area where coal is mined, mine gas is commonly used as a fuel to power combined heat and power (CHP) generators. The use of mine gas as a fuel is highly desirable – both for environmental and economic reasons. The benefits and difficulties of using this gas as a fuel are presented.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Analysis of processes that take place in absorber of absorption chiller(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Lobur, Mykhaylo; Kurdziel, Franciszek; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kalwar, Adam; Grzywnowicz, GrzegorzMethods of using absorption chillers are presented based on the example of a mine air-conditioning system. This paper presents the application of the possibility of using thermal energy as a waste product that results from the combustion of gas (methane; $CH_{4}$) in gas engines and the process of its processing into the production of a cooling medium. The principle of the operation of an absorption chiller is described – the processes in the absorber, the physicochemical changes in the system, and the method of producing chilled water. The actual application of cascadeconnected refrigeration devices is presented in order to achieve a final product with specific parameters.Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Badanie eksploatacyjne silników gazowych zasilanych gazem koksowniczym i gazem z odmetanowania kopalń(Data obrony: 2024-04-08) Kalwar, Adam
Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Bilans energetyczny agregatu kogeneracyjnego zasilanego gazem kopalnianym(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Kalwar, Adam; Filipek, Roman; Madejski, Paweł; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kurdziel, FranciszekThis paper presents the results of a study of a gas engine heat recovery system in terms of efficient use of the energy contained in the fuel, with the study performed determining the most efficient variant of gas engine operation. A comparison between the manufacturer’s data and the performance results was also made. Simulations performed on the system model allowed the optimum engine load range to be determined. The results of the analyses also indicated which variant of the engine heat recovery system is the most effective.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The energy balance of a CHP unit fuelled by mine gas(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Kalwar, Adam; Filipek, Roman; Madejski, Paweł; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kurdziel, FranciszekThis paper presents the results of a study of a gas engine heat recovery system in terms of efficient use of the energy contained in the fuel, with the study performed determining the most efficient variant of gas engine operation.
