Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaLublin basin in the south-eastern part is infilled with the Carboniferous sediments, which were deposited from Visean to Westphalian. Total thickness of the Lublin Carboniferous sediments within the analysed area is range from 771 m in the south-eastern part to 928 m in the northern part. Carboniferous sediments were deposited in three different sedimentological environments: shallow shelf, deltaic and meanderic river. Stratigraphically they were divided into Kłodnica formation, Huczwy formation, Terebin formation with Korczmin and Komarow cells, Dęblin formation with bużańskie and kumowskie cells, Lubelska formation and Magnuszewa formation. Petrographical analysis showed lack of hydrocarbon generating potential within Kłodnica formation. Sediments of the Huczwy and Komorowa formation and bużańskie cells characterized by gas and oil generation potential. However Korczmina and kumowska cells are reservoir rocks with hydrocarbon indications.
