Wydział Geodezji Górniczej i Inżynierii ŚrodowiskaThe main purpose of the paper was to prove that the method of Satellite Radar Interferometry InSAR significantly extends the possibilities of the monitoring of the areas subdued to the impact of underground mining exploitation, as well as creates the possibilities of modelling displacements and deformations of the terrain surface. The studies were based on interferograms, generated based on radarograms obtained over the period of more than 10 years (since 1994). In the theoretical part the remote sensing possibilities of the method and its usefulness in the selected study area in the Polish Copper Mining Area of Legnica and Głogów (LGOM). An experimental part included accuracy analyses of the method, possibilities of applying InSAR in the tasks of spatial monitoring of the changes in terrain surface, as well as the aspect of predicting mining impact. The results of the analyses were verified by a specially done for the purpose of this study geodesic measurement. In the context of prediction, basic parameters of the Knothe’s impacts theory were marked. The criteria of marking these parameters at the stage of mining exploitation were established. Based on the results of InSAR method a scheme of handling periodical maps and total terrain subsidence was proposed.
