Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Dziesięć postulatów branży węgla brunatnego w Polsce na tle aktualnych uwarunkowań(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Kasztelewicz, Zbigniew; Ptak, MirandaThe article introduces 10 most important postulates that can emerge during analysis of brown coal industry's position in Poland. The postulates concern different thematic layers. Particularly they refer to law regulations that should be - according to the authors - simplified. Furthermore, among the brought up postulates are the matters of deposit ownership and the status of brown coal as strategic mineral. The article is not lacking in difficult, disputable questions for which answers should be searched for in the currently developed energetic policy of the state and the conception of land use planning in Poland. Arrangements contained in these documents will determine the position and condition of brown coal industry in the following decades. So, according to the authors, it is even more crucial to take care of implementation of the »10 commandments« that serve the energetic safety based on Polish brown coal.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Górnictwo odkrywkowe w Polsce oddziaływujące na obszary Natura 2000 w liczbach(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Ptak, MirandaA new, more difficult time for opencast mining has started since Poland's accession to European Union on 1st May 2004. This concerns getting new concessions as well as continuing mining activity. Mining entrepreneurs have to take requirements concerning Nature 2000 areas protection into account apart from hitherto prevailing environmental requirements. In a brief form the paper presents the origin of this form of nature's protection, the development of the network in EU together with Poland's contribution and place in the establishment of these areas. Furthermore, documented mineral deposits lying in the Nature 2000 areas are identified with the division to particular minerals and quantities of deposits in particular voivodeships. The presented paper was created to depict the opencast mining's problem that comes out of the overlap of Nature 2000 areas and documented deposits existence. To see a chance of mining investments' development the industry has to face a new challenge - conducting operation in Nature 2000 areas. This will be one of the main themes of IX National Opencast Mining Congress.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Metoda oceny możliwości prowadzenia odkrywkowej działalności górniczej oddziałującej na obszary Natura 2000(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Ptak, MirandaThe development of opencast mining today and in the upcoming years will depend on the ability to solve conflicts connected with the impact of the exploitation on Natura 2000 areas. This new form of environmental protection, which was introduced into the national system on May 1, 2004, makes it necessary to include protective actions in mining projects to maintain the proper condition of natural habitats and of protected animal and plant habitats. The article presents the essence of the protection of Natura 2000 areas together with assumptions for the developed method of deposit classification - KZN200/mAHP. Simultaneously the article presents chosen deposits, exploitation of which affects Natura 2000 areas.Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Metoda oceny możliwości prowadzenia odkrywkowej działalności górniczej oddziałującej na obszary Natura 2000(Data obrony: 2011) Ptak, Miranda
Wydział Górnictwa i GeoinżynieriiThe development of open-pit mining will depend on the ability to solve conflicts connected with the impact of their exploitation in Natura 2000 areas. This new form of environmental protection, which was introduced into the national system on May 1 2004, makes it necessary to include protective actions in mining projects to maintain the proper condition of natural habitats and of protected animal and plant habitats. In an analysis of the available method to assess the possibility of conducting mining activity that impacts Natura 2000 areas, it was found that no such research tools existed for open-pit mining. The aim of the thesis was to fill in the gap and to devise an objective method, which could support the decision-making process. While working to achieve this aim, conflicting deposits were identified countrywide. It resulted in selecting 644 deposits, the open-pit exploitation of which may affect Natura 2000 areas. It was established that the exploitation of these conflicting deposits might affect 77 Natura 2000 bird protection areas and 99 Natura 2000 habitat protection areas. The method devised used the multiplicative variant of the Analytic Hierarchy Process method to create a ranking of ore deposits in respect of the possibility of mining exploitation of these deposits. The classification was performed using two different classifiers: the RBF neural network and the Bayesian classifier. Finally, two classes of the solution: ACTIVITY ALLOWED by the method and ACTIVITY NOT ALLOWED. The KZN2000/mAHP is the first method, which analyses economic, legal, geological and mining as well as environmental conditions.
