The Świętokrzyskie province is a region which is very rich in deposits of building stone. Easy access to them makes the stone commonly-used material in local architecture. In the small village of Beszowa, Devonian limestone and Tertiary limestone, as well as Zygmuntowski Zechstein conglomerate, were used to build a gothic church dedicated to the saints Peter and Paul and graves in the cemetery. The stone has been destroyed over the years because of biological and physical factors as well as pollution. Deterioration of the stone has made the structures visually unsightly. In this thesis, I will compare the condition of the Tertiary limestone used in building the structures in Beszowa to the same material used in various structures found in Cracow.
