Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie dotychczasowego stanu wykorzystania energii i wód geotermalnych na terenie Polski ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sektora rekreacyjnego i balneoterapeutycznego. Omówione zostały warunki hydrogeologiczne, techniki pozyskiwania wód geotermalnych, a także aspekt turystyczny w każdym z opisywanych nowych ośrodków geotermalnych.

Wody geotermalne w uzdrowisku Ustroń

Ustroń is the one of the eight health resorts in Poland where geothermal water has been used for therapeutic purposes. History of the treatment in this locality dates back to the late 18th and early 19th century, initially refers to exploitation of the peloid layers and ferruginous water springs. Lately, a brine obtained for 17 years from Devonian carbonate rocks by the two production wells U-3 and U-3A has become the main feedstock in Ustroń. The brine is used in baths and swimming pools and after its treatment is discharged by the injection well C-1 into the same aquifer. Ustroń stands out by the fact that it manages highly mineralized geothermal water and it’s the only health resort in Poland with injection of it. The continuous exploitation of the borehole C-1 leads to clogging of the near-wellbore part, which must be periodically treated by acid to maintain and increase its injectivity.
