Automatyczna detekcja elementów asymetrii w dynamicznych mapach CBF perfuzji mózgowej

This paper presents a new algorithm that enables detection of asymmetry in dynamic CBF perfusion maps. In the first stage of the algorithm detection of symmetry axis of image (between left and right hemisphere) is performed. In the second stage the level of asymmetry in cerebral blood flow is measured by detection of regions with different perfusion in both brain hemispheres. The algorithm was tested on a set of 28 different images showing or not cerebral blood flow anomalies. The paper also describes the method for estimating cerebral blood flow with a non diffusing contrast agent based on the Meier-Zierler convolution model as well as CBF, CBV, MTT and TTP perfusion maps.

Approximate solutions of a singular integral equation with Cauchy kernels in the quarter plane

In the paper, we present explicit formulae for the solution of the singular integral equation with Cauchy kernels in the quarter plane. Next, Jacobi and Chebyshev polynomials are used to derive approximate solutions of this equation.

Regulacja procesu spalania z wykorzystaniem SSN oraz algorytmów ewolucyjnych

The paper presents simulation of applying evolutionary algorithms and neural networks in power boiler process regulation. The various methods of selection, niche mechanism and coupling methods are presented in the paper. The results show that implementing proper selection operator and niche mechanism allow to prevent premature convergence and reduce computation time.

Techniques of neural networks for signal parameterization used in monitoring systems

The paper presents selected aspects of research concerning a new concept in application of computer technology to the analysis of acoustic signal. This new concept assumes, that during the analysis of signal the study is not focused on determining some or other signal parameters, neither it is focused on the signal classification, but it is supposed to lead to an automated understanding of the origins of the deformation, which can be revealed in analyzed signal.

High Energy Physics experiments in grid computing networks

The demand for computing resources used for detector simulations and data analysis in High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments is constantly increasing due to the development of studies of rare physics processes in partide interactions. The latest generation of experiments at the newly built LHC accelerator at CERN in Geneva is planning to use computing networks for their data processing needs. A Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) organization has been created to develop a Grid with properties matching the needs of these experiments. In this paper we present the use of Grid computing by HEP experiments and describe activities at the participating computing centers with the case of Academic Computing Center, ACK Cyfronet AGH, Kraków, Poland.

Wpływ parametrów ośrodka sprężysto-lepkiego na konwergencję powierzchniową prostokątnego chodnika na podstawie badań modelowych

Dependence of relative areal convergence and its rate on slenderness of rectangular gallery and Young modulus was presented in this paper. FEM and Cosmos/M were used to compute of displacements in elastic-viscous medium. Parabolic relation between slenderness and convergence was obtained as well as hyperbolic relation between Young's modulus and convergence. Minimum values of functions were reached for slenderness lambda = 1 and values of these functions were the same for slenderness lambda and 1\lambda. Influence of Poisson's ratio in range from 0,2 to 0,4 was smaller. Absolute value of areal convergence and its rate decreased with increase of Poisson ratio. Results of research have been shown on figures.

The paper presents the equations for calculating deflections, bending moments, and shear forces in the roof connected with the seam by two-parameter contact. The formulas for elastic energy and critical length of opening were also presented. The solution is applied to solve a practical example.

Hybrid model of the conventional power unit

The paper presents the hybrid model of the conventional power unit. The model contains following fragmentary models: model of the boiler, turbine and regenerative heat exchangers. Fragmentary models have been elaborated with the application of the analytical modelling methods, regression and neural networks. Hybrid model of the boiler contains balance model compatible with the German norm DIN and regressive models describing content of the unburnt combustibles in the slag and in the dust and the neural model describing the flue gases temperature at the outlet of the boiler. Model of the turbine contains balance model and theoretical-empirical model of the steam expansion line in the turbine. Models of the heat exchangers contain the balance and empirical models describing the heat transfer. The paper presents the exemplary calculation results and their comparison with the measurements.

Geologiczne uwarunkowania rewitalizacji i zagospodarowania tzw. »Białych Mórz« na terenach po byłych Krakowskich Zakładach Sodowych »Solvay«

The »Białe Morza« in Kraków-Łagiewniki is an east part of post-industrial terrains after former »Solvay« Kraków Soda Works. From the thirties of 20. century to 1989 the soda wastes were stored, mainly sludge. Sludge was deposited on the sedimentary ponds in quantities equal 5 Mg. After primary land reclamation the settling tanks were in a stage of intrinsic regeneration and natural succession. That neglected terrains are recently a »tempting bite« for potential investors. Public function - building the John Paul II Centre »Be not afraid!« - is a new, basic destination of that terrains. In 2007 was made by an author and team a geological and engineering documentation for needs of local development plan. Basic limitations for urban solutions are: considerably changed topographic profile, complicated and disadvantageous geological and engineering conditions and environment pollution. In this article, history of land development, forms and mechanisms of anthropopression, geological, geotechnical and geoecological conditions are discussed. Reionisation of geological and engineering conditions for needs of forming a functional and spatial structure were presented.

Analiza obrazów sekcji pseudoimpedancji akustycznej

Approximate distribution of acoustic pseudo-impedance can be obtained from calculation of inversion of the seismic section. That data of the acoustic resistance distribution are the base to image creation and visual interpretation of surrounding rock morphology. That method is useful for lithology-phacial changes detection in case that the changes have response in acoustic resistance changes. In practice, high-level noise signal in coexistence with useful one, make interpretation difficult, if not even impossible. In the paper are suggested some methods of image analysis and processing to inhance the acoustic impedance image feature visualization. That is the way to increase image interpretation credibility in process of lithology-phacial change detection in salt deposits.

Rewitalizacja i zagospodarowanie turystyczne podziemnych wyrobisk górniczych zabytkowej kopalni złota i arsenu w Złotym Stoku

W 1961 roku z przyczyn ekonomicznych zaprzestano eksploatacji w kopalni złota i arsenu w Złotym Stoku. Był to najstarszy ośrodek górniczo-hutniczy w Polsce. Nieczynna kopalnia, po wieloletnim procesie rewitalizacji pełni dziś funkcję kopalni turystycznej, którą odwiedza ponad 120 tys. turystów rocznie. Zwiększająca się ciągle liczba zwiedzających wymogła na właścicielach i zarządzie kopalni konieczność usprawnienia ruchu turystycznego. W tym celu wykonano połączenie sztolni Czarnej Dolnej ze sztolnią Czarną Górną, reaktywowano zlikwidowaną kolejkę podziemną i zmodernizowano trasę turystyczną pod kątem zwiększenia jej atrakcyjności i przepustowości.

Model algebraiczno-logiczny problemu planowania tras dostaw dla m komiwojażerów

In the article a concept of algebraic-logical model for problem of planning delivery routes to multi-branch companies. This problem is a modification of the well-known m-TSP problem. The algebraic-logical model corresponds to a formal representation of a multistage decision process connected with simulation of a discrete process. There are presented: a state of the system, a set of goal states and a set of not-admissible states. For the current state of the system there are introduced some sets of system elements with analogous features, which are useful in defining other components of the system. There are also specified: a notion of the decision, a set of possible decisions and a set of admissible decisions. Components of the transition function are given: a method of identifying a moment of the next process state and a method of determining values of coordinates of the next state.

Detekcja anizotropii teksturalnej w piaskowcach fliszowych za pomocą prostych technik komputerowej analizy obrazu

The study presents the results of investigations of joints surface texture obtained during indirect tensile strength tests on oriented samples of cergowskie sandstones. The techniques and method of quantitative analysis of crack roughness using fractal dimension were presented. Computed values of fractal dimension of precise specified, forced failure surfaces, were compared with directions of natural joints measured in terrain.

Ocena jakości wód podziemnych w rejonie składowania przemysłowych odpadów organicznych

The influence of long-term deposition of organic waste on the quality of migrating groundwaters and propagation of specific pollutions is analyzed in the paper. Owing to the possible exploitation failures in the landfill design, toxic substances (pesticides) may get to the ground and water environment. Potential hazards necessitate checking how the chemical composition of groundwater changes over years. It is treated as a safety criterion of failure-free deposition of dangerous substances.
