Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The interdisciplinarity of the publications of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice based on the analysis of the co-occurrence of issues specific to medicine and computer science(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Paluch, Ewelina; Mikulska, MarcelaOver the years, the study of the interdisciplinarity of publications has taken various forms, from its identification based on the disciplines represented by the authors, through the examination of citations used when writing the article, to the analysis of the publication text itself. The last of these approaches seems to be the most reliable in the context of verifying the real integration between disciplines in a specific text. The approach utilized in the conducted research facilitates a deeper analysis of integration not only between disciplines in general but also between specific issues within their domains, aiding the examination of the intensity of such connections. The research was aimed at analyzing publications affiliated with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice in terms of their connection with issues included in the area of Computer Science. OpenAlex, a bibliographic database supported by data mainly from Scopus, WoS and Google Scholar, which uses concepts that make up the Wikidata knowledge base to describe the content of publications was used. A list of 14,136 publications from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice was downloaded from the OpenAlex bibliographic database including such data as: publication id, title, author, abstract, journal, date of publication, ISSN number or concepts. Overall, the most prevalent concepts in the publications were concepts regarding the field of the medicine (medicine, internal medicine, cardiology). The most prevalent concepts concerning computer science in the publications were: computer science, logistic regression and artificial intelligence. The strenght of the connections between concepts regarding medicine and computer science was calculated by calculating the arithmetic mean of the score value for each pair of IT and medical concepts contained in a single publication. The study showed the importance of computer Science issues in the medical publications and highligted the growing importance of AI in the field of medicine.Item type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Sztuczna Inteligencja jako partner w edukacji akademickiej: możliwości i wyzwania(2024) Kluza, Krzysztof; Małuszyńska, Barbara; Atanasiu, Elena; Janicka-Olejnik, Ewa; Stąporek, Marta

This study aimed to determine the potential use of dumped SW at the landfill as raw material for the production of refuse derived fuel (RDF). Buried SW samples were collected at a passive zone of the landfill in six locations. The samples were sieved using 10 and 30 mm mesh sieves. A composition analysis was conducted following the ASTM D5231-92 method to sample fractions of greater than 30 mm size. The density was measured according to the weight and volume. The moisture and volatile matter contents were analyzed using the ASTM D2216-10 and D3175-07 methods, respectively. The calorific value was measured using a Parr C3000 bomb calorimeter following the ASTM D5865 method. The buried SW composition was dominated by a fraction size that was greater than 30 mm (79.4%). This fraction was dominantly composed of plastics (71.2%) and had average volatile matter and calorific values which met RDF criteria as a fuel. However, the ash and moisture contents exceeded the standards and, therefore, required appropriate treatments before their applications.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Mitologizacje Słowiańszczyzny w twórczości polskiego działacza na Śląsku Cieszyńskim Pawła Stalmacha (1824–1891)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Głębocka, AlicjaThe aim of this article is to analyze and interpret Cieszymir and Księgi Rodu Słowiańskiego, texts by Paweł Stalmach (1824–1891), a Polish national activist in Cieszyn Silesia. Using gathered data, traditions, and legends, Stalmach presents a mythologized culture and religion of the Slavs, as well as the history of Cieszyn and Cieszyn Silesia. The reflection also concerns the role that Cieszymir and Księgi Rodu Słowiańskiego in the author’s socio-political activities. The analysis was conducted based on the narrative concepts of Hayden White and Frank Ankersmit, as well as the mechanisms of mythologization defined by Jerzy Topolski (universalization, mystification, deification or glorification, stereotyping, and prophesying). The picture of the past presented by Stalmach contains almost all mechanisms of mythologization. Cieszymir and Księgi Rodu Słowiańskiego present an extremely positive image of the Slavs. The texts were part of Stalmach’s socio-political activities aimed at creating a local Polish community in Cieszyn Silesia.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , CV19T, a novel bio-socially inspired method, belonging to a new nature-inspired metaheuristics class(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Bouthina, Saib; Abdessemed, Mohamed-Rida; Hocine, RiadhThe paper presents CV19T, a novel bio-socially inspired meta-heuristic, where the cornerstone on which rests is the relationship between humans crowding density, on one side, influenced by their mobility, mutual attractiveness to each other and individual consciousness, and on the other side, the amazing speed of COVID-19 propagation. CV19T originality resides in the fact of combining features from two completely distinct and famous classes, namely: swarm intelligence and Evolutionary Algorithms. Moreover, CV19T extends elitism concept (i.e. survival of the most powerful), on which are based courant evolutionist approaches to the survival of the most beneficial one. Also, CV19T shows that additional parameters can increase control of its behaviour, in many cases, leading to rise in its results relevance. To validate CV19T, it was tested on benchmarks set, including 23 functions (unimodal, multimodal and fixeddimensional multimodal) and 4 real-world problems.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Geomatics-enabled Interdisciplinary Approach Based on Geospatial Data Processing for Hydrogeological Risk-analysis(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Di Stefano, Francesco; Chiappini, Stefano; Sanità, Marsia; Pierdicca, Roberto; Malinverni, Eva SavinaHydrogeological risks that are associated with rivers have emerged as a significant concern worldwide, impacting both natural ecosystems and human settlements. This contribution presents an interdisciplinary project that leverages many technologies for data-acquisition and modeling to comprehensively analyze and manage risks in riverine environments. The project integrates geomatics, geological, and hydrological techniques to provide a holistic understanding of river dynamics and their associated hazards. As a central component of this project, geomatics plays a pivotal role in instrumental field surveying through the deployment of photogrammetry and LiDAR instruments. Remote-sensing data from satellite imagery further enriches the project’s temporal analysis capabilities. By analyzing this data over time, researchers can monitor changes in river patterns, land use, and climate-related variables, this helps identify trends and potential triggers for hydrological events. To manage and integrate the vast amount of geospatial information that is generated, a geodatabase within a geographic information system (GIS) has been established. It enables efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis, fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary researcher teams. This system offers tools for risk-assessment, modeling, and scenario planning, these allow for proactive measures for mitigating hydrological risks.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Transgenerational Holocaust memory in Slovakia: from forgetting to ambivalence about the roots of hatred(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Buzalka, Juraj; Očková, KatarínaThis article explores Holocaust memory in Slovakia, shedding light on how Slovak citizens perceive this past and its transgenerational transmission. The data presented were gathered in 2023 through ethnographic fieldwork and focus group interviews with informants belonging to three generations (between ages of 18 and 95), in three different locations across the country: Krupina, Prešov, and Bratislava. However, these are not adequately documented, especially in non-glaciated, high mountain regions of middle latitude. This study comprehensively documents the Turnia Kurczaba rockfall, one of the most significant rockfalls recorded in recent decades in the Tatra Mountains. The precise projections of the volumes and distribution of rock losses and deposits, the determination of the trajectories, modes and speeds of movement of rock material, as well as information on the geological, morphological, and meteorological conditions behind the Turnia Kurczaba rockfall form a unique dataset. The data documents a spectacular episode in the contemporary development of a complex slope system in the Tatras in an all-encompassing way and can be used to validate and calibrate existing models and improve numerical simulations of other rockfalls, both for hazard and risk assessment and slope evolution studies. Moreover, in the context of archival data, they demonstrate that in the Tatra sporadic permafrost zone, only relatively small rockfalls have been recorded in recent decades. Their cause was not the degradation of permafrost but freeze-thaw processes with the co-participation of rainwater and meltwater. The largest of these occur within densely fractured cataclysites, mylonites, and fault breccias. The impact of rockfalls on the morphodynamics of talus slopes is uneven in the storied arranged rock-talus slope systems. Even colluviums belonging to the same slope system can differ in their development rate and regime, and different thermal and wetness drivers can control their evolution.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Morphodynamic Cartography Visualization of Wulan River Estuary Systems from Space to Numerical Approach Based on Multi-Season Analysis(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Khakhim, Nurul; Kurniawan, Agung; Pranowo, Widodo SetiyoThis research aims to investigate the morphodynamics of the Wulan River estuary in Demak Regency using the integration of multispectral remote sensing images and numerical modeling. In this study, PlanetScope for a manual-visual analysis of estuary morphodynamics and Sentinel-2 MSI Level 2A to obtain periodic total suspended solids (TSS) information for the east and west monsoon seasons. MIKE by DHI software used to develop hydrodynamic numerical modeling in order to characterize the current circulation and sediment transport model. Based on a marine cartography aspect, the obtained results illustrated that the climatological phenomenon of seasonal forcing plays a role in the development of the current circulation and indirectly influences the sediment transport. During the west season, the morphodynamics in the Wulan River estuary are much more massive and significant as compared to the east season. A projection of the deposition that results from the sediment transport is described in the bed-thickness change, this occurs in the western part of the Wulan River estuary during the east season, while the bed-thickness change occurs predominantly in the northern part during the west season (where there was previously a beach sandbar phenomenon). This was verified through multi-temporal satellite imagery that the deposition that occurs in the northern part of the Wulan River estuary during the west season is increasingly progressive and massive.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The energy balance of a CHP unit fuelled by mine gas(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Kalwar, Adam; Filipek, Roman; Madejski, Paweł; Pytel, Krzysztof; Kurdziel, FranciszekThis paper presents the results of a study of a gas engine heat recovery system in terms of efficient use of the energy contained in the fuel, with the study performed determining the most efficient variant of gas engine operation. Konsensualna niemonogamia w polsce w perspektywie antropologicznej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Stasińska, Antoninarelationships in postmodernity. While psychology and sociology currently dominate this topic, an anthropological approach based on ethnographic research can provide a deeper understanding of this phenomenon. Ethnography allows for the examination of diverse strategies and practices adopted by people living in a nonmonogamous manner. The anthropological approach, which places individual human experience at the center of cultural context, has the potential to broaden an understanding of concepts such as jealousy, relationship/ frienship, and family. The author examines the development of concepts of non-monogamy, polygamy, and monogamous family by looking at the beginnings of anthropology and then critically reading them in relation to the contemporary social world and her own fieldwork conducted among women living in consensually nonmonogamous relationships in Poland.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Digitalizacja i udostępnienie literatury firmowej z zakresu nauk inżynieryjno-technicznych 1955–1989. The research was conducted with the aim of comprehensively monitoring the content of radionuclide $^{137}Cs$ in forest products (Wild Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), Blackberries (Rubus L.), Wild Strawberries (Fragaria vesca L.), Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), together with Cantharellus cibarius, Boletus edulis, and Leccinum scabrum mushrooms) of the zone of radioactive contamination of the Kamin-Kashyrskyi district of the Volyn region. Samples were collected in 2020–2022. The total number of samples was 729 dried and 975 fresh mushrooms and berries samples for 2020, 1,154 dried and 886 fresh samples for 2021, and 870 dried and 896 fresh samples for 2022. The results of research indicate that in the specified territory, and at the present moment, forest products are to be found with a significant content of the radionuclide $^{137}Cs$, including those exceeding the permissible levels. There is, therefore, a threat of further internal exposure of the local population via access to procurement points of contaminated products and restaurants. In connection with the detection of these pollutants in forest products in the studied area, further expansion of specialized radioecological monitoring studies and strengthening of radiological control remains relevant.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Nový svět a nový život. RamizFor a positive integer $m$ and a finite non-negative Borel measure $\mu$ on the unit circle, we study the Hadamard multipliers of higher order weighted Dirichlet-type spaces $\mathcal H_{\mu, m}$. We show that if $\alpha\gt\frac{1}{2}$, then for any $f$ in $\mathcal H_{\mu, m}$ the sequence of generalized Cesàro sums $\{\sigma_n^{\alpha}[f]\}$ converges to $f$. We further show that if $\alpha=\frac{1}{2}$ then for the Dirac delta measure supported at any point on the unit circle, the previous statement breaks down for every positive integer $m$.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Application of Basic Machine-Learning Classifiers for Automatic Anomaly Detection in Shewhart Control Charts(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Woźniak, Aleksander; Krawiec, Klaudia; Książek, RogerIn today’s dynamic technological environment, innovation plays a crucial role – especially for manufacturing enterprises that constantly strive to improve the quality of their products. This article examines the quality-management issue in a company producing car rims. It was identified that real-time quality control can sometimes be unreliable due to controller fatigue, leading to erroneous data interpretation or delayed responses to deviations in the production process. The study aimed to investigate the possibility of eliminating or significantly reducing these errors by employing a tool that is based on artificial intelligence. The article covers the preparation of training data, the training of classifiers, and the evaluation of their effectiveness in analyzing control charts in real time. The adopted hypothesis assumes that machine-learning classifiers can be effective methods of support for quality controllers. The research began with collecting measurement data from the machine and dividing it into training and test sets. The obtained results were evaluated using standard quality measures for machine-learning models. The results showed that the use of artificial intelligence can bring significant benefits in improving quality supervision in the production process of car rims.Item type:Book Chapter, Access status: Open Access , Stanowisko badawcze do demonstracji działania dźwiękochłonnych metamateriałów akustycznych w falowodach o przekroju okrągłym(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Książek, PiotrThis paper is concerned with the construction of a demonstration kit to illustrate the applications of acoustic resonance-based suppressors in the context of narrowband industrial noise suppression. The kit consists of two main components – a circular waveguide and interchangeable silencer elements inserted into the waveguide channel. The functionality of the attenuators is demonstrated using an application that compares the acoustic spectrum of the signal recorded at the outlet of the waveguide without the attenuators installed and with the attenuators in place. Construction steps of the demonstration kit are presented as well as the process of optimising the geometry of the resonator dampers and the difficulties of using 3D printing in the manufacturing processes of acoustic metamaterials are presented. The possibilities of using the demonstration set in the context of teaching, science communication and tackling acoustic noise pollution were also discussed. The broad possibilities for further development of the design, particularly the potential for use in prototyping new geometries of acoustic metamaterials were also addressed.
