Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Kategoria męskości w dyskursie Kościoła katolickiego we współczesnej Polsce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2016) Arcimowicz, KrzysztofThe objective of the article was to analyze principal discursive strategies employed in the period 1994–2015 in creating the category of masculinity by clergymen. Owing to the intertextuality of the ecclesiastical discourse the research material contained, beside statements of Polish bishops and priests, also official documents issued by Vatican as well as popes’ opinions. In addition, I included discourse on masculinity in the Catholic communities of laymen. The research material embraced nearly 100 texts. In the analysis I used proposals of discursive-historical approach in the critical discourse analysis. Most of the discursive strategies are characterized by a clear patriarchal nature. Polish hierarchs and priests opt for the equality of men and women, but simultaneously many expressions demonstrate a topos of asymmetry of gender roles, as well as the strategy of the man’s superiority over the woman. The ecclesiastical discourse clearly demonstrates homophobic opinions on homosexual relationships. The sharp attack of the Catholic Church on new progressive ideas referring to masculine roles as well as relations between women and men, which has intensified over this decade, should be perceived as an attempt to protect the shaky traditional gender order and to maintain the normative and symbolic power by the hierarchs.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Kryzys instytucji religijnych i jego wpływ na religijność. Przypadek Polski(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2021) Kutyło, ŁukaszIt would be valuable on the basis of sociology religion to concentrate on the crisis of religious institutions and its impact on religiosity in the contemporary sociological discussions. According to theories of secularization, the crisis is a symptom of a broader process of secularization and it is related to the structural changes. In turn, the economic theories assume the crisis as a consequence of some non-effectiveness of religious institutions to the needs of the believers. Both approaches seem to provide interesting solutions to the problem. Here, I took a midway position I found that the structural changes decrease the ability of religious institutions to organize religious life of its members and, in result, the members are less and less satisfied with them. In addition, this process has its own impact on their religiosity. The main consequence of the crisis is the decline in church attendance. In order to verify the assumptions I used the data on Polish Catholics from two surveys carried out in 1999 and 2008 as the part of the European Values Servey. The outcomes of the statistical analysis seem to confirm the above assumptions.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Mowa nienawiści wobec kultury dominującej. Forumowicze portalu onet.pl o Kościele katolickim w Polsce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Synowiec-Jaje, LidiaIn the article I discuss the phenomenon of hate speech towards Catholic Church in the context of the contemporary criticism of this institution in Poland. I analyze the comments of the Internet users on popular portal Onet.pl for the characteristics of the hate speech. I enumerate its recipients and forms which we can specify during the deep analysis. I interpret also the language of the Internet users. I try to point the causes of hate speech online and partly characterize an average hater. I point out the salience of my research problem and I try to prove why we should research the Internet which is specific environment.
