Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Analiza możliwości zastosowania badań zmienno-offsetowych w metodzie georadarowej(Data obrony: 2011-10-12) Dymacz, Maria
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe thesis is an analysis of GPR floating-offset survey, which means studying at various space between transmitting and receiving antenna. Thanks to numerous types of conducted works, deriving from the same place- on waves screen appear various information. Depending on destination of surveys, aerials should be placed at the distance that gives the best results for study. GPR survey carried out in Kokotow and Babie Doly had to be an assistance for conducted archaeological researches, connected with searching for life traces of people in the past. After examining all results, it turned out that optimum aerials setup is the one that keeps the shortest distance between them, i.e. 0,5 m. This guarantees the best illustrations of anomalies of the searched objects in the cultural layer and the best resolution of objects on the echogram.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Analiza możliwości zastosowania badań zmienno-polaryzacyjnych w metodzie georadarowej(Data obrony: 2011-10-06) Brzeźny, Magdalena
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThis study was focused on two issues. The first was to determine the most optimal georadar polarization measurement system to deal with archeological issues. The second task was to conduct detailed three- dimensional studies at selected archeological sites, with measurement system selected on the basis of studies carried out in the first stage of work. As a result of floating-polarization test research, which were conducted in Kokotow near Cracow and Babi Dol near Gdansk using different georadar measuring system geometries, best results were received with parallel arrangement of antenna deployment perpendicular to the profile lines. Using selected measuring system geometry, common-offset reconnaissance research in parallel grid were performed. After the interpretation anomalies were selected, which probably are caused by archaeological objects. At the site in Kokotow and one of the sites in Babi Dol additional magnetometry studies were performed, that were used to determine whether the anomalies recorded in echograms are due to metal objects.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badania georadarowe działki budowlanej w Jaworznie(Data obrony: 2015-01-26) Nowak, Jakub
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaMetoda georadarowa należy do nieinwazyjnych metod geofizycznych. Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badania georadarowe kopca w Brzeziu (woj. małopolskie)(Data obrony: 2018-01-30) Pyśniak, Kacper
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaMetoda GPR stosowana jest do badania przypowierzchniowych warstw skorupy ziemskiej. Obiektem badań był kopiec położony we wsi Brzezie (woj. małopolskie). Pomiary przeprowadzono 31.11.2017 r. Uzyskane dane poddano procedurom przetwarzania w programie Reflexw, a następnie wnikliwej interpretacji.
Jerzego Karczewskiego.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badania georadarowe wewnątrz obiektów zabytkowych(Data obrony: 2014-09-26) Guguła, Marcin
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaGround Penetration Radar is a radio wave method used to survey subsurface areas. Because of its non-invasiveness, the system has many applications, like localization of underground infrastructure, empty spaces or studies inside buildings. Activity of GPR is related to electromagnetic field – the propagated signal is an electromagnetic wave. The receiver antenna records the reflected waves and uses them to create a cross section image, which reflects the structure of the investigated area. Data sets from GPR surveys conducted in two historical buildings (Bazylika Grobu Bożego in Miechów and Bazylika Konkatedralna pw. Wniebowzięcia NMP in Kołobrzeg) were processed and analyzed. The aim of this was to localize and interpret anomalous zones which may be important for archeological surveys. Many such structures were found in both buildings – mainly vaults and empty spaces, but also another big-sized heterogeneities, possibly related with foundations or fragments of previous older churches.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badania GPR i GCM w Dolinie Prądnika w Ojcowskim Parku Narodowym(Data obrony: 2017-06-09) Kowal, Wojciech Michał
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe thesis describes the results of microgravity studies in the area of occurrence of adits and mining tunnels in the neighbourhood of Olkusz at Silesia-Cracow Upland. The choice of this geophysical method was dictated by the depth of appearance of the void, and density contrast between seeking object and the surroundings. As a follow-up investigation method were used a GPR method. The results of microgravity researches have been analysed by qualitative (by using a polynomial method) and quantitative (by gravimetric modelling) interpretation. Finally the results of both methods was summarized together. Analysis of the received data allowed us to estimate the size, location and course of the tunnel.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badania płytkich zbiorników wodnych za pomocą metody GPR(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Karczewski, Jerzy; Ziętek, JerzyIn the paper, the applicability of the GPR method for shallow depths investigations is presented. Results obtained for different reservoirs are shown. To compare, results from sub-bottom profiler are included.
Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Burial crypts in solid rock - a geophysical case study of a small church with a unique polychrome in Szydłów (S Poland)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Zieliński, Artur; Łyskowski, Mikołaj; Mazurkiewicz, Ewelina; Lubarska, Kinga WiktoriaLesser Poland (Małopolska) is a historic region of Poland. The presented case study was undertaken in the All Saints' Church in the town of Szydłów, in which conservation and restoration works were carried out to preserve Gothic wall paintings by identifying and eliminating the causes of their degradation, and these efforts were supported by geophysical surveying. The conducted studies constitute a step not only to determine the age of the construction of the Szydłów temple, but also to improve knowledge of medieval architecture and mural paintings in Lesser Poland. The geophysical research with application of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) helped to locate previously unknown structures under the temple floor. This survey indicated four, possibly connected, structural objects clearly visible in GPR profiles. Carried out works confirmed that anomalies visible on radargrams mark two crypts. This discovery of the hidden construction elements emphasizes and strengthens the earlier suppositions of the unique character of this temple.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Complex and spatial analysis of geophysical data recorded in the areas of karst forms developed in horst structures(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Gołębiowski, Tomisław; Ćwiklik, Michał; Guzior, DominikaThe paper presents the results of geophysical surveys carried out over two voids occurring in limestone in the area of the Zakrzówek horst in Krakow, Poland. The first void was an anthropogenic cavern in the Kostrze site (a district of Krakow), while the second one was the Jasna cave (located in a reserve named “The Twardowski Rocks”). The main terrain surveys were carried out using GPR (ground penetrating radar). To reduce interpretative ambiguity, the GPR results were correlated with additional results obtained from two other methods, i.e. the GCM (ground conductivity meter) and ERT (electrical resistivity tomography). The main aim of the geophysical surveys was the detection and 3D visualisation of karst forms developed around both voids located in horst structures in limestone. The particular purpose of the research was to try to clarify the geological nature of the GPR anomalies characterised by an almost complete lack of reflections, both ohmic and scattering attenuations of GPR signals were analysed to solve the reduction of the reflection amplitudes. Another important fact discussed in the paper was the low consistency and similarity of the results obtained from geophysical surveys carried out above the Jasna cave. The interpretation of the GPR and GCM data recorded over the anthropogenic cavern allowed the places of strong weathering/fracturing of limestone to be indicated as well as a zone of limestone filled with clay-rich material. The interpretation of the GPR and ERT data recorded over the cave made it possible to identify areas of the strong weathering/fracturing of limestone, faults, anastomoses and karst chimneys.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Evaluation of GPR surveys for assessment of trees condition in urbanized areas(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2014) Mazurek, Ewelina; Łyskowski, MikołajModern measuring equipment is sometimes used for applications, for which it has not been originally designed. For example Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), designed for subsurface structures analysis, can be used for tree tomography. Radar utilizes the phenomenon of propagation of the electromagnetic waves in a physical medium. Measurements can be carried out in situ, in a non-invasive manner on a living tree. Collected data allow for the tree condition determination. It is possible to detect voids and internal structure. Geophysical investigations can provide an estimation of the risk of falling of the trees. These methods also allow determination of the production quality of the tree by detecting knots inside the structure. Available literature shows only limited examples of the usage of other geophysical surveys, such as the ultrasound and geoelectrical method. However, in many cases these measurements are performed on samples in the form of profiles cut from the felled trees. Presented study was conducted on a set of 8 ash trees growing in the Krakow city parks. The measurement was carried out with high frequency antenna – 1600 MHz. Due to the lack of available literature and limited experience of the authors, only trees with known condition were tested. Despite many attempts, the authors were not able to developed a reliable measurement methodology which would allow for unambiguous classification and interpretation of results. In most cases, the results of the study permitted determination of the trees condition. However, some echograms, of the surveyed trees with visible voids pointed to a different tree state and misclassification. Despite that, the research results seem to be promising and the authors believe in the usefulness of the further development of measurement method along with its extension to other trees species.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Feasibility analysis of using GPR method for the examination of post-glacial deposits in mountainous geological environment(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Tomecka-Suchoń, Sylwia; Gołębiowski, TomisławThe Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) measurements presented in this paper had two main objectives. The first was to analize the possibility of using GPR method in examination of sediments in a mountainous geological environment and the second objective was to assess the special distribution of post-glacial sediments and their thickness at a selected site. The experimental measurements were carried out on in the alp of Ornak in the western part of Tatra Mountains This article provides a brief theoretical analysis of possible use of the georadar method in post-glacial sediment examination. The results of GPR surveys done in the reflection profiling mode enable the distinction of zones with different amount of till, clay, sand, gravel and rock debris in the post-glacial sediments.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Georadar investigations and geochemical analysis in contemporary archeological studies(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Łyskowski, Mikołaj; Wardas-Lasoń, MartaArcheological studies require a precise and interdisciplinary approach. Use of the noninvasive methods in urban area investigations is expected because they do not result in any changes in land architecture plans. Very good combination fulfilling such demands are geochemical analyses of: pH, Eh, conductivity and heavy metals concentrations in soils and the results of the ground penetrating radar method. These methods allow for a more precise selection of places of interest and can be also used for a more accurate calibration and better interpretation of subsequent results. Proposed methodology gives good final results thanks to complementarity of each method and can be used under variable conditions.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ground Penetrating Radar investigation of limestone karst objects in the Botanical Garden in Kielce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2016) Zieliński, Artur; Łyskowski, Mikołaj; Mazurkiewicz, EwelinaGround Penetrating Radar (GPR) is one of the most effective and rapid types of geophysical survey methods. The present study was carried out in the Botanical Garden in Kielce, which is currently undergoing a second stage of infrastructure development. This object is located in the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Region, characterized by large scale deformations in the development of karst origins. Those structures threaten existing buildings and can be obstacles to newly constructed ones. Radargrams presented in this paper show significant potential of the GPR method in mapping of karst phenomena. Proper acquisition parameters and optimal processing of raw data resulted in a clear image of the structure of rock mass under the Botanical Garden, along acquired profile lines. Additionally, precise GPS coordinate links and established researchers’ experience of conducting this type of surveys helped in the process of mapping the anomalies in the limestone. Under these conditions, the survey minimized the need for a second method and resulted in high quality data acquisition. The study provided information about underlying rock mass structure development and registered anomalies whose origins include voids or caves of karst genesis. The area studied covers a large part of the Botanical Garden. Described anomalies can be dynamic in origin.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Lokalizacja podziemnej infrastruktury za pomocą metody GPR na ulicy Metalowej w Tychach(Data obrony: 2011-10-12) Paul, Kamila
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe aim of this thesis was to determine the suitability of GPR method for detection of underground infrastructure. This assessment was based on the GPR surveys performed in 2006 on Metalowa St. in Tychy. The study used eight test profiles that have been processed in the Reflex program. Processed data were analyzed and interpreted, which resulted in the designation of the location of underground cables in the profiles. Based on the interpreted profiles described the possibility of using GPR method for detection of underground pipes and cables. The paper also described such devices as electronic detector and a magnetometer, used to detecting underground network of utilities.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Metoda georadarowa w geologiczno-inżynierskim kartowaniu osuwisk(Data obrony: 2012-12-21) Durjasz, Magda
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaGround Penetratin Radar often is used in geological investigation. One of the application is geological slope analysis, where plane of shear failure is looked for. The thesis shows two examples of landslides. One is located in Radziszów, the second in Laskowa. The results of the investigations in Radziszów is radargram where we can see the plane of shear failure. In the Laskowa the soil parameters does not allow for deep propagation of electromagnmetic wave an on the radagram there are seen only reflections of the objects on the surface.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Metodyka i interpretacja profilowań wielokanałowych GPR(Data obrony: 2010-09-29) Pawłowska, Ewa
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaGround Penetrating Radar method it is non-invasive geophysical method that involves the occurrence of electromagnetic waves reflection. These days we can observe a highly dynamic development of this technology. The new multichannel system with advanced software for data processing is lately more and more visible on the geophysical market. By multichannel profiling it is possible to connect number of antennas in pairs to the radar unit. Conducting the measurements in this way reduces time and costs. That is one out of many reasons why GPR method is being used in new fields.
