    The aim of the thesis is to create a small agent system monitoring the load of the communication system. The system is comprised of three client’s devices which are called agents and one server. The responsibilities of the agents include gathering information concerning the size of particular packets passing through the network interface card in each minute of the day, saving the data in a file (giving them a proper name depending on the month, day, hour, the name of the protocol and the name of the agent), and then sending the data to the recipient every five minutes. The server’s task is to listen on the chosen port whether the data from the agents are coming and it needs to be done every five minutes. After receiving the data the server saves the data on the disc, and then at the beginning of the next it creates one file with the day’s records so that they can be displayed on the chart. The thesis enables to examine the day’s network traffic and to determine at which hours and on which days there is the most significant connection usage. Furthermore, one might predict the possible connection usage in the future. Thanks to such information one might adapt the network infrastructure to the needs which are expected, as well as observe how many connections are made without the users’ knowledge.
