Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe thesis concerns municipality of Wadowice in aspect of inanimate nature protection this area in current status and development prospect in this field. Protected by law so far is only a small part of what deserves and should be taken by legal protection. The diploma work describes the forms of flintlock on the Hill Żar near by Ponikiew village as a monuments of inanimate nature. These forms are rare but characteristic landscape element of Flysch Carpathians. The biggest of them is the rock on the Hill Żar what shown layers of sandstones and conglomerates of Istebna Beds. The next has been described the sequence between Middle Lgota Beds and Godula Beds. This sequence can be watched only in zone of Beskid Maly Mts. in Kaczyna and Ponikiew villages and the thickness of it is about 100 m. Many good outcrops allow accurate trace of this series. Other worthy of legal protection is also an object of glauconitic sandstones in Gorzen. These green glauconitic sandstone are the sea underwater middle cone deposits. A special scientific-cognitive and teaching value of the rocky forms is based on the possibility of carrying out direct observations on the character of deposits and on shaping these forms by exogenic processes. A good example of the rocky forms with such values is represented by sandstone-conglomerate rockies in the Outer Carpathians. One of the regions where such rockies occur is the Wiśnicz Foothil, where, among others, the Brodziński Stones (after a poet), the Mushroom Stone (after a mushroom-like shape) and the Chronowskie Tors (after the Chronów town) are localized. The Mushroom Stone serves to demonstrate general, common features of the origin of the rocky forms from the Istebna Beds (the Istebna Formation) observed by the author also in the Moravian Beskid Mts. and Silesian Beskid Mts. and the Small Beskid Mts. Epigenetic arcade structures, cellular structures (honey comb structures) and bowl structures form characteristic relief of rockies. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaFacies were recognized based on the results of well logging data, using these measurements and conducting a comprehensive interpretation. This was done by first using shaliness (volume of shale) as the main parameter for a geological profile division into petrophysical lithofacies before secondly calculating Flow Zone Index (FZI), utilizing porosity and permeability estimated from well logging interpretation and defining Rock Types on the basis of FZI frequency distributions. FZIs were also determined according to porosity and permeability from laboratory measurements whenever the results were available. Descriptions of cores and cuttings together with the results of geological field investigations were the basis for lithofacies determination. Maps of average porosity, permeability, and FZI values were constructed for the study area. Three types of facies data and maps of reservoir parameters were used to support the recognition of geological structures and their assessment of potential for fluid movement in the rock formation. The facies analyses were performed on the example of the Istebna Beds of the Silesian Unit in the Carpathians.
