Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaIn accordance with European Union directives (RDW, 2000, DWP, 2006), a necessary requirement for assessing of the chemical status is assessment of measurement uncertainty of the groundwater monitoring. This paper shows the example of the use of practical quantification limit to assessment of uncertainty associated with sampling. For this purpose, the results of the analyses of groundwater monitoring of the Raba river Basin are used (Kmiecik, 2007-2010). Practical quantification limits were estimated based on the results of 30 chemical indicators obtained for field blank samples, taken in 25th–26th of April 2008 under the quality control procedure QA/QC. A preliminary data analysis was consisted of the basic descriptive statistics determination (mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, range) and distribution of concentrations of chemical indicators presentation - on the control charts of individual measurements. Assessment of uncertainty associated with sampling was based on the estimation of relation between practical quantification limit PDL and limit of determination DL. In the most cases, practical quantification limit PDL was 1-2 orders of magnitude higher than limit of determination DL. The results indicate that sampling has an influence on the measurement uncertainty.
