    The late quaternary sediments of Podhale area are rich in mollusc assemblages. Mollusc shells occur in different kind of sediments. The diversity and sequence of assemblages found in fluvial deposits allowed reconstruction of natural environment changes of the past 10 000 years. The data obtained during studies and malacological analyses were supplemented with palynology and archeological data, to determine the cause of environmental changes.
