Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaAlbityty to niezwykle rzadkie i interesujące skały alkaliczne występujące w obrębie Masywu Oktiabrskiego w okolicach Mariupola w południowo-wschodniej Ukrainie. Sąsiadują one ze skałami granitowymi, w bliskim otoczeniu piroskenitów oraz mariupolitów. W celu rozpoznania charakterystyki mineralogiczno-petrograficznej alibtytów zastosowano obserwacje mikroskopowe w świetle przechodzącym oraz badania elektronomikroskopowe (SEM-EDS). W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań w skałach stwierdzono obecność minerałów głównych tj. albitu, K-skalenia oraz egirynu. Składniki podrzędne to chloryt, ilmenit-pirofanit, cyrkon, minerały rudne. Skały najprawdopodobniej są produktem bezpośredniej krystalizacji z magmy, chociaż konieczne wydają się dalsze badania w celu potwierdzenia tego poglądu.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza wyników powierzchniowych badań geochemicznych w transgranicznej strefie Karpat polskich i ukraińskich(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Sechman, Henryk; Dzieniewicz, MarekThe paper presents results of reconnaissance surface geochemical surveys carried out in the years 2007 and 2008 in the eastern Polish Carpathians and western Ukrainian Carpathians between the Carpathian Foredeep and Dukla Overthrust. The surveys intended to assess the possibility of occurrence of subsurface hydrocarbon accumulations in the area characterized by common occurrence of oil seeps at outcrops of beds, which had been intensely folded and deeply dissected by erosion. The surveys were conducted along 11 profiles. The profiles were running transversally to the strike of flysch structural-facies units. The geochemical surveys consisted in taking 890 soil-gas samples, in which concentrations of gaseous hydrocarbons and helium were determined. Concentrations of methane, higher alkanes, gaseous alkenes and helium reached to nearly 50 vol.%, 0.4 vol.%, 132 ppm and 52 ppm, respectively. The anomalous alkanes concentrations, graphically presented against the background of major Carpathian tectonic units and documented hydrocarbon deposits, have confirmed, in general, the existence of the deposits, whereas some of the concentrations have indicated possible occurrence of other, still undocumented subsurface hydrocarbon accumulations.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badanie mineralogiczno-petrograficzne piasków bursztynonośnych z okolic Rivnego (Ukraina)(Data obrony: 2017-01-18) Kubica, Dorota
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaNiniejszy projekt inżynierski obejmuje badania mineralogiczno-petrograficzne piasków bursztynonośnych z okolicy miejscowości Rivne na Ukrainie, które zostały wykonane we współpracy z geologami Narodowego Uniwersytetu Gospodarki Wodnej i Zarządzania Zasobami Naturalnymi w Rivnem (NW Ukraina). Przeprowadzono badania makro- i mikroskopowe oraz spektroskopowe metodą Ramana. W ramach tych badań wykonano także rozdzielanie przedmiotowych piasków na poszczególne frakcje ziarnowe oraz opracowanie otrzymanych danych pomiarowych, a także analizy granulometryczne, zliczając dla każdej frakcji po 300 ziaren, ze skokiem co 1 mm, co pozwoliło uzyskać ilościowy skład mineralny elementu ziarnistego tych piasków. Podano też potencjalne możliwości wykorzystania badanych skał. W konkluzji stwierdzono, że badany materiał reprezentują piaski kwarcowo-glaukonitowo-bursztynonośne o wysokim potencjale użyteczności.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Climate Change Viewer: User-Friendly Web Tool for Climate Change Tracking in Ukraine(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Osypov, Valeriy; Filippov, Nazar; Mossur, Herman; Ahafonov, Yurii; Skrynyk, Oleg; Osadcha, Nataliia; Osadchyi, VolodymyrAn effective climate-change-adaptation strategy should be based on user-friendly and reliable climate services. Due to the lack of such services in Ukraine, this study aimed to develop a web tool called “Climate Change Viewer” (https://climate.uhmi.org.ua/) to visualize climate change in Ukraine and support the development of adaptation measures on a regional scale. The tool’s temperature and precipitation data sets include gridded observation-based time series (1946–2020), climate ERA5-Land reanalysis (1981–2020), and high-resolution regional climate projections of the EURO-Cordex initiative (1981–2100). Regular grids of historical data sets and climate projections have been aggregated within the administrative units and main river basins of Ukraine. Climate Change Viewer shows that the observed warming trend across Ukraine remains within the projected range but exceeds the mean of the climate models’ ensemble. The projected precipitation tends to increase in the northwestern and decrease in the southeastern parts of Ukraine through the end of the 21st century. The tool’s user-friendly interface and regional binding can help increase the awareness of national and local authorities, businesses, and the public sector about future risks of warming and water availability. In 1907 remnants of woolly rhinoceros and mammoth were discovered in one of the shafts. A second discovery was made in 1929, in a special shaft digged by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, where remnants of three woolly rhinoceroses were found including one, a unique in the world, almost completely preserved specimen of this extinct species. In the 1970s, mud volcanoes were formed in relationship to seismic activity. In the vicinity of Starunia Paleolithic settlements were found of human population which might have inhabitated this area in the same period as large mammals. Geological, palaeontological and archaeological factors along with beautiful landscape of the Ukrainian Carpathian region make the Starunia village exceptional, world-class geotourist attraction. Hence, the concept of ecological and geological tourist centre has been proposed, located at the abandoned ozokerite mine in Starunia village.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Methane hydrate technologies in Ukraine - research and prospects(2016) Žuk, Gennadìj Vìlìorovič; Pʹâtničko, Oleksandr Ivanovič; Krušnevič, Viktor Tadeuševič; Fedorenko, Denis Stanìslavovič; Klimenko, Vasilʹ VasilʹovičAbstract Methane production from natural gas hydrates will enable the reduction of a great part of natural gas import deliveries and to give up them completely in the future. Gas hydrate technologies compared with existing ones, also gives the possibility to transport gas, divide gas and liquid mixtures, concentrate water solutions, utilize and store $СО_2$, etc. with greater efficiency. However, methane production technologies have not developed industrially and their study was performed with the help of experimental units and in separate gas hydrates deposits in the mode of tests and elaborations. The prospects of the hydrate technologies development in the Ukraine were determined: transportation of natural gas in the form of hydrates, long-term storage of natural gas in hydrate state, natural gas production from its hydrate deposits. Positive international experience in terms of the development of hydrate technology is studied. In order to study formation and dissociation hydrates of carbon dioxide and natural gas components, Gas Institute have made hydrate stand facility. The express method of determining thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of hydrate transformation was tested. Natural gas hydrates as well as carbon dioxide hydrates were produced with the help of the express method. It was determined that the composition of original natural gas and gas of hydrates decomposition is of great difference – it means that »selective« hydrates formation of natural gas formation is performed. A set of experiments was also performed to study the process of methane replacement with the help of carbon dioxide. According to the gaseous phase analysis, 14% increase of methane content was fixed. Actually the exploitation of all salt deposits in the Western Ukraine was stopped in last several years because of complicated geological-hydrological conditions, intensive salt karst phenomena and extensive former salt excavation. It caused that although the former agreements the visiting of underground mine chambers and surface salt quarries (in Kałusz and Sołotwino structures the salts pierced up to the surface) was too danger and in the both visited deposits their geology and methods of salt exploitation were only reported by miners in the office.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Monitoring nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in environment of Ukraine based on satellite data(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Yelistratova, Lesya; Apostolov, Alexander; Khodorovskyi, Artur; Tymchyshyn, MaksymAir pollution (especially near industrial enterprises that are located mainly in densely populated regions) is one of the most significant problems of modern ecology. The purpose of this research is to study nitrogen dioxide air pollution over Ukraine, which has a negative impact on human health. As part of the research over the territory of Ukraine, the real planar distribution of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as well as its local emissions (which make the main contribution to this distribution) were revealed using the materials of the remote sensing of the Earth from the AURA satellite. The results were calculated for the multi-year period of 2005 through 2021 and separately for 2022, which characterized the full-scale war in Ukraine and which made it possible to identify priority polluters, namely, industrial enterprises (thermal power plants, heavy metallurgy enterprises, etc.). For 17 years, the average value of NO2 was 160.78 · 102 molecules/mm2, in 2022, its concentration decreased to 126.93·109 molecules/mm2. Prospects of development are planned.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Podhalańskie narracje o uchodźczyniach i uchodźcach wojennych z Ukrainy(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Malewska-Szałygin, AnnaThe article presents preliminary conclusions from a research project on changes in narratives functioning in rural communities of Nowy Targ County about residents of Ukraine after the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. The project, carried out using ethnographic methods in 2023–2024, showed how narratives changed in the context of war and refugee experience. The text considers various aspects of the experience of contact with war refugees from Ukraine, referred to as toposes: discursive construction of femininity and masculinity, childish perception of the situation, various motivations for aid activities, the impact of the experience of hosting refugees on the individual identity constructions of the hosts, historical resentments in the context of providing aid, work as a category for assessing migrants, and conspiracy theories justifying the existing political situation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Powierzchniowe badania geochemiczne w wybranych obszarach polskich i ukraińskich Karpat fliszowych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2008) Dzieniewicz, Marek; Sechman, HenrykThe paper presents results of reconnaissance surface geochemical survey carried out in selected zones of the Polish and Ukrainian Flysch Carpathians. It intended to assess the possibility of occurrence of subsurface hydrocarbon accumulations. The survey was conducted along 8 profiles with total length of approximately 150 km, in general running from NE to SW, and consisted in taking samples of soil gas, in which concentrations of hydrocarbons and helium were determined. In sum, 315 samples were taken at points with the 500 m spacing. Concentrations of methane ranged from 0.9 ppm to almost 50 vol. %, concentrations of higher alkanes amounted to approximately 0.4 vol. % and concentrations of gaseous alkenes came up to approximately 132 ppm. Also presence of helium was recorded, its concentration amounting to 52 ppm. Variations in concentration of hydrocarbon constituents, graphically presented against the background of the existing geological and reservoir model, confirm the previous recognition of oil and gas fields and are indicative of opportunity of occurrence other, still undocumented subsurface accumulations.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Próba datowania piasków bursztynonośnych z regionu Rivnego (Ukraina)(Data obrony: 2017-01-18) Ładoń, Karolina Wiktoria
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaW pracy podjęto próbę datowania piasków bursztynonośnych zlokalizowanych w regionie Rivne na Ukrainie. W tym celu wykonano szereg badań mineralogiczno-petrograficznych, m.in. obserwacje makroskopowe, analizę granulometryczną, badania przy użyciu mikroskopów stereoskopowego oraz polaryzacyjnego do światła przechodzącego (w tym analizę planimetryczną), a także metodę spektroskopii Ramana. Znaczna zawartość glaukonitu oraz występowanie minerałów ciężkich (rutyl, anataz) pozwoliło na potwierdzenie morskiej genezy badanych piasków. Dzięki temu możliwe było skorelowanie warstw z formacjami występującymi na Ukrainie oraz wydatowanie piasków na Eocen/Oligocen.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Salt geology and mining traditions: Kalush and Stebnyk mines (Fore-Carpathian region, Ukraine)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Bukowski, Krzysztof; Czapowski, GrzegorzDevelopment of industrial underground salt mining in western Ukraine has started in the mid-19th century with the discovery of large potash-magnesium salt deposits in Kalush (1854) and Stebnyk (1901). Potash salts concentrations occur within the Miocene sedimentary complexes of Ukrainian Carpathian Foredeep (correlated with the successions observed in the Polish part of Carpathian Foredeep) as isolated lenses or compressed folded layers of varied extent. Thickness of exploited potash seams varies from 4 m up to 150 m and the main mineral is sylvine, accompanied also by carnallite, kainite and langbeinite. Both Kalush and Stebnyk mines, now closed, belong to the first places in the world, where exploitation of potash salts were realized. The main Ukrainian legal acts were discussed, referring to the prices of real estates. The attention was paid on the term of 'an improved ground', occurring in legal acts. Then the approaches and methods of expert valuation of grounds applied in Ukraine were presented and the assessment of usufruct laws and the restrictions in the right to use the ground.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The Starunia collections in the Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Lviv(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Chornobay, Yuriy M.; Drygant, Daniel M.In the Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Lviv there is a collection of a famous Pleistocene mammoth and a woolly rhinoceros, the so-called »first rhinoceros« from Starunia. The mammoth and the first rhinoceros were found 102 years ago, on 5th October and 6th November, 1907, respectively, in a shaft of an ozokerite (earth wax) mine near Starunia village (the Eastern Carpathians). The discovery of large Pleistocene mammals in Starunia was a spectacular, worldfamous scientific event. Beside the mammoth and the rhinoceros, many specimens of Pleistocene flora and fauna from Starunia and other places of the Fore-Carpathian region are exhibited in the Lviv Natural History Museum.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wysoko wykwalifikowane migrantki z Ukrainy i Białorusi na pierwotnym rynku pracy w Polsce - przyczynek do badań(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Dolińska, AnnaThe article analyzes the professional experiences of highly skilled female migrants from Ukraine and Belarus, who pursue employment in the sectors dominated by Polish nationals, in positions reputed to be of greater social prestige or requiring targeted education and qualifications on the primary labour market in Poland. The aim of the publication is to present the results of exploratory research in terms of the context of migration of expatriates from post-socialist countries to Poland, their experiences on the Polish labour market, and the strategies developed for dealing with unequal treatment in the context of the whole migration experience. The article was based on analysis of empirical material collected in the form of narrative interviews, which were later confronted with selected subject literature.
