    Przekształcanie obiektów pogórniczych w obiekty turystyczne na przykładzie kopalni siarki w Machowie

    In 1991 the development of sulfur mining was inhibited in Poland and the extraction of sulfur deposit was stopped in “Machów” Sulfur Mine. Hence, a decision to close down the mining pit. The approach that was adopted to reclaim the place gave rise to a magnificent Machowski Reservoir. The intention of the author of this thesis is to analyze the reclamation of post-mining land by turning it into tourist and recreational water facilities. The impact of such a transformation on the natural environment is shown on the example of „Machow” Sulfur Mine. The attention was drawn to both strengths and weaknesses of the project and a discussion was conducted about the opportunities and risks involved in the creation of Machowski Reservoir from a post-mining pit. There was an inventory of touristic development plan on the land surrounding the reservoir as well as the closest region. In addition, new forms of tourism and recreation were suggested that might arise in connection with the creation of the basin.
