Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Adaptacja historycznych kanałów kanalizacyjnych na potrzeby podziemnych tras turystycznych (PTT)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Wieja, Tomasz; Wartak, KarolinaHistoric sewage channels are remarkable engineering structures of high architectural values. In consequence of their magnificence, they are compared to monumental basements, passages etc. Because of their uniqueness, the possibility of adaptation for touristic purposes is seriously considered. The article identifies threats, defines formal and technical requirements in terms of individual or partial adaptation. As far as the impact of impurities on health is considered it is of great importance to examine channels for the possibility of bacteriological threats.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Feed-forward compensation for nonlinearity of vibrating plate as the sound source for active noise control(2011) Mazur, Krzysztof; Pawełczyk, MarekActive Noise Control (ANC) systems are usually designed in the feed-forward structure with adaptive linear control filters. However, performance of such systems, when a vibrating plate is used as the secondary source, may be poor due to significant non-linearity of the plate response. The linear systems are then unable to cope with higher harmonics generated by the nonlinearity. One solution to this problem is to apply a nonlinear ANC algorithm. However, it adds additional complexity to this layer. It is particularly severe for multichannel systems, where the algorithms are complex by themselves, and making them nonlinear may significantly reduce their scalability. In this paper, another approach is proposed. Multiple actuators are mounted on a single plate, in order to effectively excite more vibration modes and generate a higher acoustic power, than in case of a single actuator. The response of the vibrating plate as the sound source is then linearized with a set of nonlinear finite impulse response filters, operating individually for each actuator. The Filtered-x LMS algorithm is adopted to update parameters of the nonlinear filters. The control system is experimentally verified and obtained results are reported.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Feed-forward equalization of sound radiation from a vibrating plate(2012) Mazur, Krzysztof; Pawełczyk, MarekIn this paper an adaptive single input - multiple output feed-forward system for sound radiation from a vibrating plate is investigated. Finite impulse response filters are used to generate control signals for each actuator based on the common input signal. The filters are updated with the Filtered-x LMS algorithm in order to minimize the instantaneous squared value of the difference between the sound pressure measured at the specified point in the acoustic field, and the desired signal being the input signal filtered by the assumed secondary path transfer function model. Performance of the system is experimentally verified and obtained results are reported.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Multi-aspect analysis of tools for adaptive audio-visual streams processing(Data obrony: 2020-12-11) Front, Mateusz Stanisław; Błaszków, Bartosz Jarosław

It is undoubtedly a transitional period of change and new challenges. It should be noted that it will take different forms, depending on where the elderly go to spend their retirement. Will it be their own apartment, a relative's house, or a social care home? This article addresses the problems of spending one's old age in a retirement home. The main subject is the process of adaptation of the elderly to life in an institution and the factors influencing it.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Rewitalizacja budowli inżynierskich(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Wieja, TomaszEngineering structures - bridges, silos, gasometers, tunnels, interceptor sewers and the like - are distinguished by expressive beauty and individual forms. Revitalization of the engineering structures is a consecutive design challenge for the architects, constructers, miners etc. Transformation of the engineering structures for new functions is a complex process technically complicated and introducing at the same time a new quality to the existing, frequently degraded, urban planning areas. In the article maintenance and design problems related to the adaptation of the engineering structures have been presented. The shown examples of the revitalization engineering structures for the needs of the new utilitarian functions represent various technical solutions used in the process of adaptation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Screening Milosz's philosophy: the multilayered construction of Tadeusz Konwicki's adaptation of The Issa Valley(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Duda, PaulinaTadeusz Konwicki's adaptation of Czesław Miłosz's novel The Issa Valley is an adaptation of the latter's philosophy. Through a series of deliberately structured cinematic techniques. Konwicki creates a film that is a platform where two outstanding individuals meet, rather than a battlefield where each tries to surpass the other. By drawing on the paradigmatic structure approach created by Herbert Eagle, I demonstrate that The Issa Valley's meaning is created not on the level of the storyline but rather through the repeated cinematic segments that build a second »narrative« line within the film. Miłosz employs a similar strategy in his novel, which brings together both artistic styles, that of Miłosz and that of Konwicki. Furthermore, the similarities between the artists' biographies (childhood in Lithuania, life as refugees, a shared Romantic tradition) brings an additional layer to the adaptation. As a result, The Issa Valley film is a multilayered work that manifests not only Konwicki's artistic independence but also Miłosz's artistic philosophy and even the afterlife of his art.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The Application of GIS and remote sensing in a spatiotemporal analysis of coastline retreat in Rufisque, Senegal(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2021) Koulibaly, Cheikh Tidiane; Ayoade, Johnson O.This paper is aimed at analyzing the phenomenon of shoreline retreat in the locality of Rufisque from 1978 to 2018 mainly using geospatial data and field visits. A set of Landsat images from different dates at 10 year intervals was then acquired through the United States Geological Survey platform and shoreline change analysis was run using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System. In addition to that desktop work, interactions with local residents allowed the determination of ongoing adaptation strategies actually in place to cope with coastal erosion. The study showed that Rufisque is subject to serious rates of erosion reaching −19.48 m/year from 1978-1988, close to −8 m/year from 1988-1998, −5.88 m/year from 1998-2008 and −6.67 m/year from 2008-2018. Beside that coastal erosion, it has been noticed that the coastline also experienced in some of its parts cases of accretion reaching 4.94 m/year for 1988-1998, 7.29 m/year from 1998-2008 and 7.68 m/year during the period 2008-2018. In terms of surfaces, Rufisque' shoreline respectively lost 156.81 ha (1978-1988), 80.55 ha (1988-1998), 6.94 ha (1998-2008), 12.93 ha (2008-2018) and in the same note gained 2.86 ha (1988-1998), 32.51 ha (1998-2008) and 19.16 ha (2008-2018) attesting to the fact that the coastline is subject to both spatiotemporal changes. Finally, this study also reveals that while authorities' reaction is taking place at much lower pace, local communities are actually using their ingenuity to put in place strategies to tackle coastal erosion.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , W komiksowym kinie - w kinie komiksów. Od inspiracji poprzez adaptacje ku ekranizacjom(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Tomczak, MaciejThe purpose of the article is to draw attention to the issue of movies and comic books relationship. Nowadays we can see numerous cinematic versions of graphic novels. Especially what is so called »super hero movies«. Historical development of both movies and comic books was the same. There were several thematic borrowings. Also popular culture had significant influence on these media. It is possible among movies and graphic novels to distinguish inspiration, adaptation and screening. Comic book movies are not a new phenomenon. But its character seems a bit more complicated.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wybrane zagadnienia diagnostyki wielostopniowej przekładni zębatej ze stopniem planetarnym w układzie napędowym koparki kołowej(2007) Bartelmus, Walter; Zimroz, Radosław; Sawicki, Wojciech; Maniak, Marek; Woźniak, Zbigniew; Furmaniak, KarolThe papers deals with selected issues of diagnostics of multistage gearbox with planetary stage used in driving system for bucket wheel excavator SRs 1200. This paper is one of results of cooperation between Wrocław University of Technology and Open Cast Mine »Konin« that is focused on diagnostic procedures for supporting maintenance of this strategic object. One of the most important issue is time varying external load that is observed during normal operation, it affects all stages of diagnostics process (measurements, signal preprocessing, feature extraction and reasoning). Diagnostics without load monitoring very often gives incorrect results (no detection of failures or false alarms). In the frame of mentioned cooperation a few experiments has been carried out, the idea of a diagnostic system with load as the criterion of adaptation of diagnostics has been proposed. In this paper the basic ideas of this system and initial results have been presented.
