    The application of Light Weight Aggregate Concrete (LWAC) as heat insulating and structural element for the preliminary lining of shaft fundamentally change the conditions of interchange heat between frozen rock mass and inside of shaft. This paper presents results of the laboratory tests in which the possibility of obtaining concretes especially with allow for binding and hardening in direct contact with frozen rock mass was specified.

    Zastosowanie betonu wysokowartościowego w obudowach wyrobisk podziemnych drążonych w sztucznie zamrożonym górotworze

    The paper presents the possibility to apply High Performance Concrete(HPC) in the concrete panel linings of underground workings driven in artificially frozen rock mass. The analysis of the possibilities to construct such linings was carried out with the particular consideration of the material applied, with the emphasis on the creation of thermal conditions suitable for the setting of the final lining made of High Performance Concrete. Investigations into the suitability of particular components were conducted in two stages. First, several laboratory and model tests were carried out. Then, the events were modeled numerically with the use of the FLAC codes. In the final stage of the analysis a numerical model was constructed which matched the conditions in the shafts that were sunk with the freezing method, and in a simple way the phenomena that occurred in the course of placing and curing of the whole lining were analyzed.
