    The aim of the presented study is detection of biotite in the video sequences. Biotite is characterized by colour variability under the influence of polarized light. Biotite, which was easy to recognize by one position the polarizer, other positions were very poorly perceived as preventing their automatic detection. The object of study was a film consisting of a sequence of microscopic images. Analysis of biotite required the use of several methods of image processing, mostly to designate the movement vector objects on consecutive frames of video sequences and also to noise filtration and segmentation of biotite.
