Advantages and disadvantages of these kinds of machines are discussed. A comparison of traditional BWEs used in Polish and foreign lignite mines with compact BWEs is conducted. Conclusions from this analysis allow to state that compact BWEs offer very advantageous mass to efficiency ratio and therefore allow to reduce investment costs in the mines using continuous exploitation systems.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza parametrów pracy krajowych kopalń węgla brunatnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Kasztelewicz, ZbigniewThe article presents a comparison of numerous parameters describing the operation of Polish lignite mines. Coal production and overburden stripping, overburden to coal ratio, the amounts of water pumped out, water to coal ration and employment were analyzed. An analysis and comparison of capacity, time of malfunctions, energy consumption and age structure was also conducted. They occur most often in the connection region of the steering frame and caterpillar girder. The greatest forces affect this elements in a case of changing the trajectory. According to standard DIN 22261 fatigue calculations of undercarriages are not compulsory. In this article the fracture source of a loading elevator undercarriage connected with an excavator SchRs-4000 was analyzed by the use of numerical methods. The forces acting on the undercarriage were calculated. The Finite Element Analysis was carried out and the results were presented in this paper.
