    In recent years, there is visible development of refractory industry. There is a wide range of products, which are resistant to high temperature, however they have different chemical nature and other parameters. Properties of material are directly dependent on mineral resources used for its production. Therefore, it is important to carry out detailed study of raw materials and final products, which are made from them. In this work, the subject of research are chromium ore from the Voskopoja massif in Albania and magnesium-chromite refractory materials from the ArcelorMittal Refractories in Cracow. Research methods such as optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for the analysis. They provide information on the chemical composition, phase composition and structure, which determine other technological properties that allow adaptation to operating conditions.
