Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Automating Compliance: Advanced Verification Techniques for Information Requirements in BIM Railway Projects(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Wrzosek, Maciej; Owerko, Tomasz; Rochel, Maciej; Kasznia, DariuszSince BIM (building information modelling) emerged as the standard for project preparation, there has been a demand for rapid compliance-checking. This article explains this issue in railway building projects, it focuses on establishing a common ground for the creation, verification, and management of EIR (exchange information requirements). Using examples from European railway projects, the authors illustrate how EIR structures and standards can vary. The paper demonstrates basic requirements to ensure BIM models comply with contracting authorities’ requirements thus supporting effective planning for the design, construction, and operation phases. The study also reviews existing requirements, engineering processes, and testing methods, creating a link between BIM and software-engineering practices such as unit testing, system testing, and integration testing to ensure comprehensive model validation. By highlighting the use of buildingSMART Open BIM standard, such as information delivery specifications (IDS) and industry foundation classes (IFC), the study illustrates their role in the automated or semi-automated compliance verification. The research results showed the limitations of the verification tools and methods that are currently being used in the industry, emphasizing the need for further advancements in computer-aided verification. Presented coverage percentages are based on a limited set of EIR documents and tool assessments, these values should be considered to be estimates based on specific assumptions and not definitive generalizable results.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Characterisation of used traction sand for utilization aspects in earth construction based on the requirements of Finnish environmental legislation(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Pöykiö, Risto; Grönvall, Mika; Watkins, Gary; Välimäki, Ilkka; Perämäki, Paavo; Dahl, OlliFinland launched a new Government Decree, the so-called MARA-regulation, on the utilization of certain wastes in earth construction on 1.1.2018. This statutory regulation sets limit values for the solubility of heavy metals (Sb, As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Mo, Ni, Se, Zn, V, Hg), chloride, sulphate, fluoride and dissolved organic carbon, as well as for organic substance (petroleum hydrocarbons, benzene, naphthalene, TEX (toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene), PAH-, phenolic- and PCB-compounds). In this case study, the concentrations of these harmful substances in the used traction sand collected in the city of Kemi, Northern Finland, were lower than their limit values set in the MARA-regulation. Therefore, this residue is a potential material to be used at earth construction sites such as in roads and roadways, in field and embankment structures, as well as in floor structures of industrial or storage buildings. However, if the used traction sand is to be utilized for these kinds of civil engineering purposes, an environmental permit is still needed because this material is not yet included in the scope of the MARA-regulation. This paper also gives an overview of the relevant Finnish environmental legislation on the utilization of wastes as an earth construction material.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Numeryczna symulacja wyburzenia komina murowego(2008) Jakubowski, Jacek; Reiman, KrzysztofNumerical simulation of 67,6 m high brick chimney felled by explosives is presented. Models have been build and computed with the use of Distinct Element Method and 3DEC-Itasca system. The results of the dynamic simulation, chimney basement stresses estimations and the process of chimney damage collapse agrees in general with experience and observations.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wykorzystanie inżynierii lądowej w trakcie likwidacji składowiska niebezpiecznych odpadów »Fischer Deponie« - Austria(2006) Barchański, BronisławWaste disposal in after exploitation workings has at times been realized with violation of legal regulations in the field of water protection. One of the ways to undo the environmental damages caused by unlawful waste disposal is the total liquidation of the disposal. Liquidation of the »Fischer Deponie« hazardous waste disposal will be presented in the following article.
