Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Górnictwo węglowe jako siła napędowa rozwoju zaawansowanych technologii XXI wieku(2007) Tajduś, Antoni; Dubiński, Józef; Rogut, JanBituminous coal and lignite are the main energy carriers in Poland and according to primary energy consumption forecasts they will remain the basic energy carriers at least until 2030. It goes beyond any question that bituminous coal and lignite form the foundation of energy security in Poland. Currently, the issue of key importance is whether Polish coal mines will be able to meet the required demand or whether coal imports will become necessary. Consequently, the greatest challenge of the Polish mining industry is the cooperation in the field of development of clean coal technologies indispensable in light of the increasingly stricter environmental regulations, especially regarding $CO_{2}$ emissions. This challenge concerns equally the mining as well as the energy sectors. The role of the mining industry as an integrating medium of science and technology, constituting a driving force for the development of advanced twenty first century technologies has been presented. The paper also focuses on the European dimension of new mining and energy technologies which should be developed in Poland to facilitate the country's active participation in international activities in the field of clean coal technologies. Some of which may become Polish specialization. The following exemplary technological solutions which represent different stages of development are discussed in detail: - adsorption enhanced anaerobic coal gasification to hydrogen and/or SNG- Substitute Natural Gas (projects ISCC and C2H). - hydrogen generation by direct underground coal gasification (project HUGE). - $CO_{2}$ recycling in integrated coal and nuclear based energy generation (project proposal). - underground $CO_{2}$ sequestration in unmineable coal seams (project RECOPOL). The proposals of research and development activities which are of key importance to maintain and develop the position of both the mining industry and the coal related energy sector in the 21st century have been delineated.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Możliwości wdrażania czystych technologii węglowych w branży węgla brunatnego w Polsce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Kasztelewicz, Zbigniew; Polak, Krzysztof; Zajączkowski, MaciejThe climatic policy of EU is being gradually modified because of different understanding of the climate protection in member countries and because of the costs related to its implementation in particular states. However its goals are constant: reduction of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, reducing the power consumption and increasing the participation of renewable energy sources. Independently of the final form of EU's energy-climate package the brown coal industry in Poland has to prepare for its consequences. Therefore it is necessary to implement so called »clean coal technologies« and expand the directions of brown coal usage. The article describes available and perspective coal technologies that - if implemented - would allow to decrease $CO_{2}$ emissions in Poland. The particular emphasis is put on: increasing the efficiency of power units running on brown coal, capture and storage of carbon dioxide as well as both underground and surface gasification of brown coal deposits. Future research directions over developing the most favorable in Polish conditions are shown, taking environmental, economical and technical considerations into account.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Perspektywy wykorzystania węgla kamiennego(2006) Mokrzycki, EugeniuszCoal is the most important primary energy source. It take the first place before oil and natural gas. Hard coal reserves are immense and are located in all geographical regions of the world (over 70 countries). The forecasts worked out by the agencies and institution working worldwide (WEC, IEA, UE) assume that in the nearest 30 years the use of coal will increase, especially in processes of burning for electricity generation. The prices of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons will continue to rise on the international markets. The reason for that is the unstable political and economic position of the countries, being the main producers and exporters of oil and natural gas. Coal should stabilize the situation as its supplies are stable and improve the energy security of the World. To achieve that goal it is necessary to acquire social acceptance through the wide introducing into service so called clean coal technologies, that significantly improve the energy efficiency and reduce particular matter and green-house gases emission. Poland, possessing significant reserves of hard and brown coal, may play the leading role in warranting the energy security not only in the country but also in the European Union. Nevertheless it is necessary to modernize the existing production potential and its development as well as the increase of competitiveness of the Polish coal mining industry.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Zgazowanie węgla jako źródło energii odpadowej(Data obrony: 2017-10-06) Kasprowiak, Hanna
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaPodziemne zgazowanie węgla to technologia polegająca na zgazowaniu trudno dostępnych pokładów węgla bezpośrednio w miejscu gdzie zalegają.
