    The technological process of overburden removal in PGE KWB »Bełchatów« SA is being put into practice by use of SchRs 400 and SchRs 4600 bucket ladder wheel excavators. Direct mining process is being made by buckets which are exposed to intensive wear process as a result of great amount of different, changeable workability class overburden masses removal. Significant deteriorafion of rocks mining conditions in Szczerców Field in relation to Bełchatów Field (workability class increase) caused the decline of buckets survivability in Szczerców Field even twice and three times what led to the increase of overburden excavators standstills and the increase of expenses for regeneration. The paper presents the optimalisation process of bucket corners and cutters by use of welding methods as well as constructional (geometrical) changes together with the results evaluation which were obtained during the years of observation.
