    This paper presents the factors affecting the profitability of investment in wind energy sector. The first part provides information on the current development of wind farms in Poland and worldwide. Characterization was made of factors affecting the profitability of investments. In the remainder of the work performed an economic analysis of wind power „Kamieńsk”. Also presented issues related to the influence of wind turbines on the environment.
