There are several technologies and tools for the analytical processing and evaluation of diverse data, such as the Big Data technology. The Industry 4.0 concept (which is closely linked with the IoT) will bring an enormous growth of produced data into the company sphere. The information value of such data can significantly affect managing and decision-making processes in a company. Here, we can see a synergy between man and technology where each influences the other. The purpose of this paper is to support the following statement: in the present business environment, we are facing the transformation of a company that, for efficient management and decision-making, needs: a) to capture and process all available data, b) to implement new tools into strategic decisions, and c) to integrate data through a single system. This article describes the possibilities of deploying the efficient use of new technologies (Big Data, Industry 4.0, and IoT) in management.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Multi-criteria decision methods for CSR management - literature review(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Doś, AnnaBusiness today faces a managerial transition to adapt a new decision-making criterion and a course of action, namely, corporate sustainability. Corporate social responsibility can be embedded in (or fostered by) value-based management. In any case, adopting CSR as a part of a firm's strategy and operations requires changed standards for decision-making. Decision-makers face the challenge of following tangible and intangible goals of multiple stakeholders. This study provides insights into how multi-criteria decision tools can be harnessed to operationalize CSR. The method applied in the article is a systematic international literature review. The findings suggest that papers aimed at using MCDM to enhance CSR management are mostly newer publications. Three important research avenues have emerged. In the first avenue, MCDMs are seen and used to enhance managerial decisions where a number of heterogenic goals must be achieved. The second avenue is where MCDMs are seen and used to evaluate a firm's quantitative and qualitative outcomes in terms of values created for multiple stakeholders. The third trend is connected with sustainable supply-chain management.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Risk management in heating industry(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2022) Iwaszczuk, Aleksander; Iwaszczuk, NataliaThe heating industry plays a very important role in countries with cold and temperate climates, together with the power industry, it determines the energy security of these countries. The aim of this article is to examine the risks that threaten the stability of heating companies. The study is based on an analysis of the scientific literature and the macroeconomic environment as well as on interviews with employees from the heating industry. The article identifies the risks and divides them into three groups: general economic, industry, and specific risks. A risk map was drawn, and a qualitative analysis of their impact was carried out for the aforementioned companies. This map is a useful tool for making decisions that are related to risk management and ensuring the stability of the functioning of business entities as well as gaining information for both government and local authorities in the search for effective ways to drive the sector’s development.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The potential of artificial intelligence adoption for managerial decision making: A rapid literature review(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Rydzewski, RafałThe article aims to investigate how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support managers in making decisions. The methodology employed for this purpose involves a rapid literature review process. It is done in two stages that involve the graphic analysis of keywords, the systematic manner for rapid literature review and a directed search through online scientific article databases in pursuit of answers to the research questions. As a scientific basis for article selection, Scopus and Web of Science were chosen. The study indicates that AI supports decision-making processes by providing managers with more informed insights and predictions because of high data analysis capabilities. However, there is a lack of clear indication regarding the potential future applications of AI for decision-making purposes other than a supportive role. The study highlights the importance of AI in managerial decision-making processes. It particularly enhances analytical capabilities which led to the improvement of decision outcomes. It also stressed out the need for further research on future applications of AI in managerial decision-making contexts. The main concerns tackled challenges related to its adoption, such as reliability, accountability and ethical considerations. This article contributes to the literature by conducting a rapid literature review of the current state of research of AI applications for managerial decision-making. It highlights gaps in research on the future of AI for decision-making and emphasizes the need for additional research in this area.
