Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Measurement of the proton diffractive structure function in deep inelastic $e^{+}p$ scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERA(Data obrony: 2008-04-14) Łukasik, Jarosław
Wydział Fizyki i Informatyki StosowanejA detailed analysis of the diffractive process $\gamma^{\ast}p → Xp$ in deep inelastic $e^{+}p$ scattering is presented. The data taken with the ZEUS detector were extracted with the requirement of a large rapidity gap (LRG) between hadronic final state $X$ and the outgoing proton. The measurement was done for photon virtualities $2<Q^{2}<3Q5 GeV^{2}$, masses of the hadronic final state $2<M_{X}<25 GeV$ and the $\gamma^{\ast}$ p centre of mass energies $\gamma^{\ast} <W<240 GeV$. Events were selected with $0.0002<x_{IP}<0.02$, where $x_{IP}$ indicates fractional momentum loss of the scattered proton. The data support a factorisable $x_{IP}$ dependence, which can be described by the exchange of an effective Pomeron trajectory with intercept $\alpha_{IP}(0)=1.118 \pm 0.007(eksp.)^{+0,19}_{-0,010}$ (model). The $x_{IP}$ and $\beta$ dependences of the reduced diffractive cross section $\sigma^{D(3)}$ r are discussed. The ratio of the $\sigma^{D(3)}$ obtained from the analysis of events with a measured leading proton (LPS) and from LRG analysis is presented. The $Q^{2}$ dependence of the $\alpha_{IP}(0)$ was also measured.
