This dissertation presents results of the work which aim was to experimentally determine S-N Wohler curve of decorative paint layer on wooden panels. During measurements were used Digital Speckle Pattern Interferometer (DSPI), thermographic camera and RTG. Principal aim was to build and implement Digital Speckle Pattern Interferometer which could be used as standard diagnostic tool in museums and field work, capable of making displacement measurements at the micro level scale. This device can trace cracks and development of delaminations placed on paint layers. Secondary target was to determine Woher curve for decorative paint layers placed on wooden panels. It was achieved by using Universal Testing Machine to made stressing and compressing cycles of specimens imitating historical painted wood. It simulated swelling and shrinkage of wooden boards caused by variations of relative humidity. During tests painted wooden panes were observed using DPSI. Relationship between strain and number of cycles after which damage of paint layer was observed was final result.
