An assessment of rope durability in mining shaft hoists

The article presents the issues of the durability of lifting ropes and balance ropes operated in selected shafts of deep mines. The basic causes of hoisting ropes wear are described, the methods of steel ropes wear evaluation are given, as well as the hoisting ropes durability evaluation criteria. The authors also present selected results from the extension of hoisting ropes. The article ends with some conclusions resulting from the research. The article has also been provided with photos showing the measuring equipment used to assess the durability of steel and steel-rubber ropes. The article presents the criteria for assessing the durability of lifting ropes.

Durability testing of tangential-rotary picks made of different materials

This paper presents information on the current most-widely-used cutting heads, i.e., tangential-rotary picks. It describes their applications, design, methods for improving their durability, as well as problems related to their performance. The main body of the paper deals with the results of the durability testing of tangential-rotary picks made of different materials and hardfaced or machined in ways that lead to an increase in their durability. The picks selected for the tests were standard, commercially-available, and prototypical ones. The paper also presents a state-of-the-art laboratory test stand to research the cutting process or rotation drilling with the use of a single cutting tool or cutting drum (the property of the Department of Mining, Dressing, and Transport Machines of the AGH UST in Krakow).

Technological aspects of mining chain production development

This paper presents a brief historical overview of the development and types of mining chains currently in production, as well as their contribution to the global market. The directions of development for mining link chains were identified in terms of the materials and strength parameters applied. The negative influence of certain factors that decrease the performance of mining chains are also demonstrated.

Zmiany w kryształowych częściach aparatu ortodontycznego pod wpływem wybranych roztworów rozpuszczających i remineralizujących ludzkie zęby

Praca dotyczy zmian w kryształowych częściach aparatu ortodontycznego pod wpływem roztworów o właściwościach rozpuszczających i remineralizujących ludzkie zęby takich jak napój typu coca-cola, wino czerwone, barszcz czerwony oraz napój barwiący ułatwiający higienę jamy ustnej. Zbadano również zamki kryształowe, które były użytkowane przez dwa lata. Badano wpływ powstałych zmian w zamkach na walory estetyczne, na trwałość zamków, na ich morfologię i skład chemiczny. W tym celu przeprowadzono eksperyment na zamkach kryształowych, które zanurzono w roztworach przez określony czas i w odpowiednich warunkach, przybliżających częściowo warunki panujące w jamie ustnej i średni okres czasu noszenia aparatu ortodontycznego. Następnie zbadano zamki na skaningowym mikroskopie elektronowym, twardościomierzem i za pomocą mikrosondy elektronowej.
