    Goal of the master’s thesis is discuss about ecological benefits, which are result of switching fuel source from coal to geothermal energy at Geotermia Uniejów. Coal combustion in order to produce electricity or heat is cause of atmosphere pollution. Global warming, ozone hole or acid rain are outcome of pollution’s emission. Reducing negative influence of combustion processes is used to improve environment’s condition. Replacing coal by geothermal energy leads to reduce pollution’s emissions. Geotermia Uniejów is one of the polish industrial plants, which produce electricity and heat. Building of Geotermia Uniejów is reason why many of local coal supplied boiler houses were closed, thereby reducing emission SO2, NO2, CO and dust into atmosphere.
