The analysis of the electrostatic field in ECT sensors and the computation of capacitances and sensitivities, are of key importance in designing better sensors. Especially analysis 3D measurements sensor space can give information in order to better interpret the capacitance changes during monitoring industrial processes using ECT system. In this paper the electrostatic field analysis of ECT sensors is considered and the opportunities it gives for the sensor design are outlined. The simulation results are compared to real measurements value obtain from 12-electrodes ECT system.
