Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , From unemployment to running one's own business: the ideational embeddedness of entrepreneurship in Polish and EU public policy(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Dudek, MichałNowadays the entrepreneurship phenomenon is of great importance. Small business is considered a critical factor of economic progress, innovation, and employment growth. Its economic significance implies both a certain policy shape and specific social practice. The process of setting up. maintaining and developing firms has become a subject of common approval and growing legitimization as well as of intensive governmental support in various forms. In public debate and public policy, the idea of deregulation, relating to actions limiting the administrative barriers for entrepreneurs, is justified based on neoclassical economic theory. However, both in the public debate and public policy, providing entrepreneurs with subsidies and other kind of support is based on the interventionism doctrine. Therefore, an ideational entrepreneurship system is created at the public authority level which seeks to explain and justify a certain shape of support policy for entrepreneurs. The paper argues that entrepreneurship could be perceived as an ideational embedded economic action. In order to illustrate the ideational embeddedness of entrepreneurship, EU and Polish public policy discourse form 2000-2010 was analysed. The objects of qualitative discourse analysis were, among others, governmental documents, strategies. and public statements.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , How can digital transformation and entrepreneurship influence business activities? A systematic analysis for cutting-edge economies(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Balsalobre-Lorente, Daniel; Abbas, Naila; Shah, Syed Ale RazaOver the last few decades, the business landscape has undergone significant changes, and new investors have faced severe challenges in achieving their desired goals. The business sector has compelled practitioners to introduce some innovative methods that promote the business’s activities at lower intrinsic costs. Thus, the inclusion of digital transformation in business activities has been proposed as the best solution to avoid the business loss trap. In the era of development, digital transformation has received immense attention from higher authorities to spur information technology in business activities. It behaves in a friendly manner across different regions of the globe in problematic situations such as pandemics, financial crises, and energy shocks. Therefore, for the first time, this study tries to demonstrate the critical role of information technology in new business activities for seven emerging economies from 2005 to 2021. However, this study employs different estimators to evaluate its objectives. The results of the basic model indicate that income, information technology, foreign direct investment, and financial inclusion make significant contributions to business start-ups. The entrepreneurial role remains positive and significantly contributes to new businesses by 0.005%. However, urbanization shows a positive but insignificant role in business activities. Additionally, this study examines the mediating role of information technology on income, entrepreneurship, foreign direct investment, and financial inclusion, revealing a significant impact on business start-ups. Finally, the systematic information technology analysis supports business activities in specified countries. Based on the findings, this study proposes some imperative implications for attracting investors to invest in new business projects.Item type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Ahmad Gharanjik(2023) Gharanjik, Ahmad; Fisch, ChristianItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Aveline Cloitre(2023) Cloitre, Aveline; Dos Santos Paulino, VictorItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Dominika Dawiec(2023) Dawiec, Dominika; Mizera, NataliaItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Ewa Kret(2023) Kret, Ewa; Mizera, NataliaItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Fabien Apper(2023) Apper, Fabien; Biettron, Justine; Shashkova, ElizavetaItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Igor Wojnicki(2023) Wojnicki, Igor; Wieczerzyńska-van Baarle, JoannaItem type:Movie, Access status: Metadata only , Interview with Moses Mwakyanjala(2023) Mwakyanjala, Moses; Törlind, PeterItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Task perception as a moderator of motivation–satisfaction relation among nascent Polish entrepreneurs(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Pyrkosz-Pacyna, JoannaTasks undertaken by nascent entrepreneurs are oftentimes distant from their main scope of interest and skills. The question emerges whether the perception of those tasks influences the motivational processes of entrepreneurs and their work satisfaction. In this empirical study of nascent Polish entrepreneurs, we were able to observe that indeed in some cases the perception of the performed tasks moderates the relation between entrepreneurs' motivation and work satisfaction. For example, among those entrepreneurs who assessed the educational value of performed tasks highly, the relation between intrinsic motivation and work satisfaction was positive. Those findings are of significant importance when it comes to supporting entrepreneurship activity. It is advised to be aware of factors influencing entrepreneurs' motivation to work in order to sustain their productivity and engagement.
