There are still problems in this area. Description of these problems in a traditional manner with the use of mathematical correlation seems impossible in the nearest future. It is, therefore, worth applying different techniques of the phenomena and processes description, such as fuzzy logic. The author presents an expert system created on the base of fuzzy logic. It allows to estimate the risk of appearance of gas and coal outburst depending on the gas emission index and index of firmness. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe topic of the M.Sc. Thesis was inverse problem in well logging. Several methods of solving it were presented. There were shown some examples of interpretation made for single log as well as for the set of logs. Conventional methods were based on solving single equation and using the program ULTRA for comprehensive interpretation. Paralelly, the author shows efforts to make the interpretation using alternative methods. In case of single log spectra analysis and deconvolution of registered signals were considered. For comprehensive interpretation an expert system was used. The method of judge is based on operations performed on the fuzzy numbers and fuzzy sets. The method has been used for a determination of the semester and annual marks for one group of the gymnasium and one chosen subject. Those values of marks have been compared with teachers' ones. We propose to apply that method of the final marks determination for the information function definition for the learning systems treated like information systems.
