    The aim of this thesis was the assessment of the heavy metals release from the anthropogenic soils at the industrial area. The three different anthropogenic soils were studied: the Vistula River sediments from the flooded area in Cracow, sediments from the wetland of the Matylda Chanel and flotation waste from Zn-Pb processing in Bukowno. The concentration of Zn (561-16325 mg/kg), Cd (10,5-137 mg/kg) and Pb (112-17842 mg/kg) are very high in all examined anthropogenic soils. The sequential extraction methods showed that Zn and Cd are very mobile (up to 60% of Zn Chanel Matylda sediments, and up to 77% Cd from the flooded Vistula River sediments).
