Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Dependence of tensile wet strength from regeneration time and grain size of the matrix ceramic moulds(2011) Kamińska, Jadwiga; Kolczyk, Joanna; Żymankowska-Kumon, SylwiaProduction technology of nwestment casting involves transmitting the elements of shape, dimensions and properties by filling in the appropriate liquid metal ceramic forms reproduced by a model made of wax removed by melting it. The manufacturing process of inwestment casting in the lost wax technology consists of a number of technological operations: preparing of wax models and their assembling in the model units, the preparation of ceramic mixture, successive layers of debris, wax melting in an autoclave, drying the samples at 100 °C, heating the samples at temperatures ranging from 400 to 700 °C. So far, the technology was based on the use of ceramic mixture, which the bond was hydrolysed ethyl silicate. Currently, due to environmental protection and improvement of working conditions, more and more binders with alcohol is replaced with an aqueous solution of colloidal silica. In the study, to create the individual layers a ceramic form, used regenerated ceramic mixture derived from foundry and green ingredients. The regeneration time was respectively 5 and 15 minutes. Used ceramic moulds after mechanical reclamation was given to sieve analysis to determine the grain size (di). Grain sizes 0.2, 0.4 and 0.63 mm were used for the coating of ceramic moulds. The paper presents results of research aimed at the determination of the relationship between tensile wet strength and grain size of ceramic mould: Rm = f[dL). Tests were conducted on cylindrical samples, which deposited the layers of reclaimed ceramic material.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Effect of cavitation phenomenon on the quality of high-pressure aluminium alloy castings(AGH University Press, 2023) Brzeziński, Marcin; Wiśniowski, JakubThis article presents an analysis of the effect of cavitation on the erosion of pressure moulds intended for the HPDC casting mould manufacturing process. Changes in the surface area of the eroded areas were investigated via photographs of castings at the begin-ning of the mould life as well as at 30%. The individual process variables were described and their influence verified via the cavitation potential module of the Flow3D simulation programme. The results are presented graphically with a description of the relationships and observations. The summary provides an explanation of the results and the dependencies that occurred.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Effect of grain size of the reclaimed matrix ceramic moulds used in the lost wax technology on the strength at high temperature(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Kamińska, Jadwiga; Kolczyk, Joanna; Żymankowska-Kumon, SylwiaProduction technology of investment casting involves transmitting the elements of shape, dimensions and properties by filling in the appropriate liquid metal ceramic forms reproduced by a model made of wax removed by melting it. The manufacturing process of investment casting in the 8 lost wax technology consists of a number of technological operations: preparing of wax models and their assembling in the model units, the preparation of ceramic mixture, successive layers of debris, wax melting in an autoclave, drying the samples at 100 °C, heating the samples at temperatures ranging from 400 to 700 °C. In the study, as the basic of individual layers a ceramic form, used regenerated ceramic mixture derived from foundry and green ingredients. Used ceramic moulds after mechanical reclamation was given to sieve analysis to determine the grain size $(d_{L})$. Grain sizes 0.2, 0.4 and 0.63 mm were used for the coating of ceramic moulds. The paper presents results of research aimed at the determination of the relationship between tensile wet strength and grain size of ceramic mould: $R_{m} = f(d_{L})$. Tests were conducted on cylindrical samples, which deposited a layer of reclaimed ceramic material.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Impact of density degree and grade of inorganic binder on behavior of molding sand at high temperature(AGH University of Science and Technology Press, 2017) Stachowicz, Mateusz; Paduchowicz, Patrycja; Granat, KazimierzThis paper discusses the impact of high temperatures (up to 900°C) on molding and core sand with inorganic binders selected from among the group of unmodified grades of hydrated sodium silicate (water-glass). Molding sands with medium quartz sand were made under laboratory conditions and compacted at the different energy inputs necessary for obtaining various apparent densities (?0). Due to the different composition and apparent density of molding mixtures hardened via microwaves at a frequency of 2.45 GHz, it was possible to assess their deformation (L) at a high temperature above the binder's eutectic temperature. For this purpose, an apparatus for hot distortion tests was used whose construction and equipment allows us to measure the thermoplastic deformations in molding sand in many aspects; i.e., in its time of annealing. The article proposes new possibilities of interpreting the hot distortion phenomena in comparative studies of molding materials and mixtures. The application of this new measurement method revealed the differences between molding mixtures made with five inorganic binders with a molar module ranging from 2.0 to 3.4 and apparent density ranging from 1.34 to 1.57 g/cm$^{3}$. It was established that distortions under the influence of high temperatures last the longest in molding sand with a binder with the highest molar module (3.4). Research also revealed that the density of molding sand is significant for increasing/decreasing the rate of thermoplastic deformations following the heating of samples only if the molding sand includes binders with a molar module of between 3.0 to 3.4. For molding sand with binders with molar modules from 2.0 to 2.5, it was established that this is excessively susceptible to thermoplastic deformation.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Jaką surówkę zakłady wielkopiecowe powinny dostarczać odlewniom polskim?(Wydawnictwo Nr. 26 Polskiego Związku Przemysłowców Metalowych, 1935) Buzek, JerzyItem type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Odlewnictwo. The study was conducted on cores (standard specimens for tensile strength testing) made from core sands with varying amounts of loosening additive, depending on the core box temperature and shooting time, at a constant operating pressure of the shooting machine. The temperature of the core box at which the cores achieved the best mechanical properties was identified, and the necessity of optimizing both the amount of perlite ore additive and the binder content in the core sand to ensure the required mechanical properties of the cores was demonstrated.Item type:Book, Access status: Open Access , Złom żeliwny a surowiec odlewniczy(Wydawnictwo No 20 Polskiego Związku Przemysłowców Metalowych, 1932) Buzek, Jerzy
