Architecture of a framework for dynamic, semantics based deployment of overlay networks in peer-to-peer environments

The thesis presents the concept, model and partial implementation of a middleware platform for creating and maintaining overlay networks created in a peer-to-peer environment. The platform offers semantic matching between descriptions of message sources and requests issued by message consumers. Based on the matching results, an overlay network of message processing components - generated in accordance with consumer's request - is deployed. From the user point of view, one of key platform's function is the delegation of message processing outside the user's machine - to the intermediary nodes. That provides for reducing overall requirements regarding both the network bandwidth and computational resources. The presented platform was designed as a set of services -easy to configure and develop. That provides for easier customization in context of a particular application. The implementation of the prototype presented in the thesis covers the key services needed to demonstrate the platform functionality. As an example application, a system for reporting marathon race results was implemented. The results of measurements show significant decrease in bandwidth, memory and CPU consumption.
