    Geologiczno-inżynierskie właściwości utworów lessowych zachodniej części Płaskowyżu Nałęczowskiego

    The aim of this study was to show and determine geological-engineering properties of the loess soils from the western part of Nałęczowski Plateau. The research was based on archival data, geological literature and examination of the loess in a geotechnical laboratory. Investigated samples were collected from the scarps, which were located in Kolonia Parchatka, Kolonia Celejów, Rąblów and Wąwolnica. Afterwards, the results were compared to the archival data. The outcome demonstrates that there is no significant diversity in the geological-engineering properties of the tested loess. They acquire typical characteristics for this type of soil – domination of grains diameter between 0.05 – 0.02 mm, formation of steep slopes, and they are susceptible to fluctuation in moisture. Also, loess soils tend to settle or collapse suddenly upon wetting. Considering all of this facts, loess should be classified as an unfavourable foundation basis.
