    This thesis presents a geological-engineering analysis of issues connected with the modernization of the left-side of the Trzesniowka river embankment at a 4+300-8+250km course of the river. The main goal of this analysis is to find a solution to reduce and eliminate adverse phenomena causing embankment deformation. Geological and hydro-geological characterization of the studied area was made on the basis of available literature. Diploma related fieldwork and practice combined with access to geological-engineering documentation, enabled me to perform a detailed characterization of river embankment close to the Sandomierz area as well as an analyze problems found during the study.
