The subject of the study is the impact of coal-bed methane as an example of „Jas-Mos” Coal Mine on one of the components of the environment, which is the atmospheric air. „Jas-Mos” Mine belongs to coal mines which have large amounts of methane in coal bed, hence greater methane emissions into the atmosphere than average in Poland. The main burden on the environment is methane from mine ventilation system, all of which is discharged into the atmospheric air. Methane from the demethanation in contrast to vent methane is largely used. This gas belongs to the group called greenhouse gases which presence in the atmosphere contributes to the intensification of the greenhouse effect, which is already a global problem. This work is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, which is the introduction to the subject, explained the impact of methane on global warming and the greenhouse effect. The subsequent chapters focuses on the geological and deposital conditions responsible for shape methane fields of coal deposit and analyses of methane content in coal bed and methane „Jas-Mos” Mine. Then shows the scale of methane emissions from KWK „Jas-Mos” Mine to the atmosphere in 2000-2010. At the end of this thesis were showed ways to reduce methane emissions into the atmosphere from the coal mining industry.

Results of new mineralogical and geochemical research on clay deposits of the Rhaetian-Hettangian successions from the Holy Cross Mts. margin (south-eastern part of the epicontinental Polish basin) are presented. The clay mineral assemblages were mostly controlled by climatic conditions and weathering regime. Reworking of ancient sediments and the early diagenesis could modify the clay mineral composition. Some levels of the high kaolinite content at the Triassic-Jurassic boundary suggest intense continental weathering in the humid-subtropical to tropical climate related to the global warming episodes that were recorded on isotope curves from a number of sections in the world.

Mikrobialny metan generowany w przemysłowych fermach hodowlanych

Niniejsza praca ma na celu ukazanie wpływu sektora hodowlanego na degradację środowiska naturalnego poprzez zanieczyszczenie powietrza, wód i gleb ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wpływu zwierząt hodowlanych na emisję metanu i innych gazów cieplarnianych do atmosfery. W pracy tej zostały ukazane dane dotyczące emisji metanu przez krowy mleczne rasy holsztyńsko-fryzyjskiej odmiany RW (czerwono-białej) w jednej z hodowli Ośrodka Hodowli Zarodowej „Głogówek”. Dane są porównane z danymi światowych badań przeprowadzonych na hodowlach krów mięsnych oraz pokazano wpływ omawianego sektora hodowlanego na stan środowiska w skali światowej.
