    The purpose of this dissertation is depicting the possibility of reducing the heat loss to the outside environment and fuel consumption. The conducted project concerned the two-family residential building for which thermomodernization venture was carried out and upgrading of the central heating system. The former referred to thermal insulation of external walls. The latter was based on the replacement of the existing installation of the coal fired boiler with a renewable energy source called a heat pump. Technical – economic analysis and ecological effect of this project are also included in this thesis.
