Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Autoetnografia a etnografia wielostanowiskowa w studiach migracyjnych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Krzyżowski, ŁukaszThe article examines autoethnography (as a form of methodological nationalism), a conceptual tendency that is helpful in the process of the construction of a multi-sited research fi eld, (multi-sited ethnography), at two levels: spatial and temporal. I maintain that this type of data, (migration researcher’s experience and history of migration of the family and local community), allows a better understanding of the nature of migration, which is understood as a process of long duration. More importantly, today’s migrants perceive the migration of a hundred years ago, as well as the present, precisely as transmigration, and not as emigration or immigration.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Doświadczenia AGH w badaniu i zabezpieczaniu podziemi Krakowa(2007) Tajduś, Antoni; Mikoś, Tadeusz; Chmura, JanuszItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2016) Piestrzyński, AdamItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , History of the building of the Archaeological Museum in Kraków at the exhibition »The history of the building housing the Archaeological Museum in Kraków«(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2013) Tyniec, AnnaThe site currently occupied by the Archaeological Museum in Kraków abounds with finds dating back to the early medieval period. It is located on the edge of the alluvial cone of the Prądnik, a tributary to the Vistula River. In the 9$^{th}$-13$^{th}$ century, the area was contained within the fortified suburbium where a dwelling, productive and commercial settlement developed. After 1612, the land was donated to the Discalced Carmelite Order, and the monastery with the church of St. Michael and St. Joseph were built. In the year 1797, on the strength of the decree issued by the Austrian Emperor Joseph II (from 1782), concerning the dissolution of monastic orders, the Carmelite Order was dissolved, and the church with the monastery were confiscated by the State Treasury to be used as prison and jail cells. In 1954, Kraków authorities donated the complex to serve the needs of the Archaeological Museum in Kraków. The history of the buildings became the topic of subsequent exhibitions.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Inspiracje sztuką ludową we współczesnej sztuce użytkowej. Built at a high cost and manpower from its beginning caused many problems for builders. Very weak clayey grounds with sand contents already during the cross cutting of tunnel caused deformation load on the wooden temporary lining caused its strong deformation.Tunnel was set into operation at the beginning of 1857. The rainy spring of this year brought about sopping of the ground around the tunnel. At the begin of May of this year observed first cracks in the final tunnel lining and at the 17th of May the tunnel partially collapsed in its central section. Very important railway for the Rybnik coal mines was blocked. In his book Leon Peszel basing on the opinion of prof. Karol Wątorek writes »...we can conclude about volume of the soil load basing on the temporary lining behavior. From the deflection's measurement, crushes of the lining elements we can calculate the volume of the pressure occurring in determined cross-section of the tunnel«. This opinion was presented in the first half of the XX century so almost 70 years after the disaster in Czernica when the geomechanics and statics of underground constructions reached considerable higher level then in Franz Rziha times.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Layering of façades - a few comments on the colour of Krakow's façades in earlier and contemporary times(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2014) Komorowski, WaldemarWitnesses to a bygone age, façades are evidence of past life. Interpretation of traces, and particularly colours, aids to recognize old tastes and moods. This paper reviews ornamentation methods used for the outerwalls of buildings in Krakow from the city foundation (1257) until the 1950s. The first part of the paper presents evidence to corroborate a theory that, in spite of a common misconception, medieval façades were not left in their raw condition but plastered. Obviously, plaster did not recall its modern clear and even equivalent, but was greyish and bumpy. Usually this plaster received a multicolour painted finish. Surprisingly for our contemporaries, stone details such as window and door stone work were also painted, the practice being common until the end of the 18$^{th}$ century. Ornamentation methods varied throughout the ages, though rich colouring was popular and characteristic for Gothic, Renessaince, Baroque and Classicism. Dimmed colours as seen in the second half of the 19$^{th}$ century were only occasional in fact. The older the building, the more plaster and painted layers it would receive. Learning about this layering takes us through the history of the building.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Lwów and Łódź. Comparison of history and environmental conditions(2008) Dworak, Tadeusz ZbigniewPublikacja zawiera porównanie uwarunkowań historycznych oraz środowiskowych dwóch dużych aglomeracji miejskich Lwowa i Łodzi położonych niekorzystnie, w sensie geograficznym, na działach głównych dużych rzek: Wisły i Dniestru (Lwów) oraz Wisły i Odry (Łódź). Stwarza to określone problemy środowiskowe, głównie w związku z trudnościami w zaopatrzeniu tych aglomeracji w wodę pitną i przemysłową. W przypadku Łodzi pogorszenie warunków środowiskowych nastąpiło dodatkowo na skutek nadmiernego rozwoju przemysłu w XIX i XX w., co m.in. potwierdzają wielospektralne obrazy satelitarne.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Nawarstwienia historyczne: dokument i zabytek(2007) Krasnowolski, BogusławItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Nawarstwienia na średniowiecznych osadach z terenu Krakowa(2007) Zaitz, Emil; Zaitz, MichałItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Obiekty tunelowe na trasach galicyjskich kolei żelaznych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Preidl, WojciechMisadventures of the Austro-Prussian war showed limited transportation abilities of the existing railroads between Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria and the rest of Habsburg-Austrian empire. So was born an idea of extension of the railroads crossing Carpathian mountains on the north-south direction, by connecting them to already existing railroad from Kraków by Przemyśl and Lwów, with the railroads on the Hungarian Kingdom territory. Construction of those railroads, in complicated and challenging terrain, caused necessity of many bridges and tunnels construction. In this paper have shown, on the basis of sources available for the author, story of the construction, localization and current state of many tunnels constructed during those railroads constructing. Talked over the objects placed currently on the territory of Poland as well as the tunnels located an the territory of Slovakia, Hungary, Romania which belonged to the Galicia - province of the former Habsburg-Austrian empire.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Pomiędzy dziełem historycznym a literackim - Vilhelma Moberga tetralogia o szwedzkich emigrantach(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Rak, KamilaThis article examines a tetralogy about the Swedish emigration to North America during the second half of the 19th century, written by Vilhelm Moberg. The tetralogy consists of the following volumes: The Emigrants, Unto a Good Land, The Settlers, and The Last Letter Home (only the first two, The Emigrants and Unto a Good Land have been published in Polish). I present the lives of the fictional characters that are in Moberg’s tetralogy. Due to the repetitive historical references about the Swedish emigration to North America in the 19th century, I also present the lives of some of the real emigrants. Moreover, I describe Moberg’s personal life, his development as a writer and journalist, his involvement in politics, and how he discovered the diaries of Andrew Peterson, a Swedish emigrant. His diaries became very crucial for Moberg while he was working on the tetralogy. Finally, this article tries to demonstrate how important these novels are in Swedish literature and culture.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Problemy archeologii górniczej w międzynarodowej współpracy naukowej(2006) Mikoś, Tadeusz; Chmura, JanuszThe subject of archeology is the research of excavations and finds, as well as studies on the surviving elements of the historical landscape. They provide information on aspects of past human activity, especially with regard to economy and the technology of producing tools and consumer goods. Research concerning prehistory and the history of mining stirs particular interest. Today, the cooperation between mining engineering and mining archeology casts new light on the thousands of years of the mining civilization's existence, on the great skills of acquiring and processing raw materials, on mining technologies applied in old mines. Over thousand-year-long history of mankind, mining has always initiated technological progress. Also, many villages and towns owe their establishment to mining. Due to research in the field of mining archeology, many secrets related to ancient mining are still being uncovered.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Przeglądowa mapa turystyczna obiektów historycznych województwa małopolskiego(Data obrony: 2018-07-12) Matwiejczyk, Barbara

Realne, symboliczne i wyobrażeniowe w przestrzeni miasta(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Moćko, WojciechThe aim of the article is the psychoanalytical interpretation of Jewish Museum building in Berlin - the example of deconstructivism in architecture, as well the urban space of Berlin and the history of Germany and the Berlin Jews as manifested in the space of the city. Starting with the notion of anamorphosis, the works by Jacques Derrida and Peter Eisenman and using Daniel Liebenskind's building of the Jewish Museum as an example, the author of the article shows the connection between deconstructivism and the urban space of Berlin. The emphasizes the importance of empty spaces, or spaces devoid of something, for both the city space of Berlin, and the Museum's architecture, where the empty space is the space devoid of the Berlin absentees - the Jews. The description refers to formal features of deconstructivist architecture and the features of the museum building while the interpretation is rooted in Lacanian psychoanalysis and his three orders: the Real, the Symbolic and the Imaginary, as well as in his concept of the mirror stage in the development of the human psyche.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Rola roślin w życiu dawnych mieszkańców Krakowa: nawarstwienia archeologiczne, jako źródła archiwalne(2007) Bieniek, Aldona; Wacnik, Agnieszka; Wasylikowa, Krystyna; Gluza, IrenaItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Średniowieczne nazwy ulic Krakowa, związane z działalnością gospodarczą(2007) Supranowicz, ElżbietaItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The war is not over until it is over. Contemporary films as a means of national identity construction and memory in Poland(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Camacho, AngelicaFilms are an important source of symbolism. They help people construct a national identity and memory of the past. Contemporary film productions in Central and Eastern Europe which focus on themes such as World Wars I and II and post-communism, rewrite and redefine the national identity of citizens. It is important to analyze and discuss these films as a way to gaining a richer understanding of the discourses of national identity. In the Polish film Rose (Róża) by Wojciech Smarzowski, the main female character is the recipient of an imposed identity before and after World War II. On the other hand, in the Polish film In Darkness director Agnieszka Holland tells the story of a man who helps Jews hide in the sewer system. Holland and Smarzowski portray Poles as individuals willing to risk their lives for Jewish people: this is also national identity construction.
