Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Audio-visual speech processing system for Polish applicable to human-computer interaction(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Jadczyk, TomaszThis paper describes audio-visual speech recognition system for Polish language and a set of performance tests under various acoustic conditions. We first present the overall structure of AVASR systems with three main areas: audio features extraction, visual features extraction and subsequently, audiovisual speech integration. We present MFCC features for audio stream with standard HMM modeling technique, then we describe appearance and shape based visual features. Subsequently we present two feature integration techniques, feature concatenation and model fusion. We also discuss the results of a set of experiments conducted to select best system setup for Polish, under noisy audio conditions. Experiments are simulating human-computer interaction in computer control case with voice commands in difficult audio environments. With Active Appearance Model (AAM) and multistream Hidden Markov Model (HMM) we can improve system accuracy by reducing Word Error Rate for more than 30%, comparing to audio-only speech recognition, when Signal-to-Noise Ratio goes down to 0 dB.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Consideration of the specifics of understanding textual communiqués in designing dialogues with a user of an information system(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Susłow, WaleryThe paper presents a proposal to take into account the language comprehension paradigm in an attempt to improve the design methodology of human-computer dialogues. It is assumed that the user treats a system as a subject, i.e. perceives communication with the system as a kind of discourse and intuitively treats it as cognition of the world through a fixed image of objective linguistic signs. Due to the fact that every end-user of a computer system has an individual linguistic competence, thesaurus, habits, previous experiences, one can never guarantee that identical semantic references arise in a variety of audiences. The situation becomes more stable if one considers the communication aspect of comprehension on the basis of practice (familiarity of things). It may be expected that a qualified professional user will commit fewer errors, caused by a poor dialogue understanding while interacting with the system. The research problem relates to the question of how gender differentiates the user experience design process? According to the analysis of the qualitative method (Individual In-depth Interview) the author distinguished elements that diversify the UX design process from a gender perspective. The main issues contained in colors, content, shapes, photos, graphics displayed on websites and apps dedicated to gender-specific users. The research included designers and researchers who are responsible for building user experience in web and mobile application projects.
