Wydział Wiertnictwa, Nafty i GazuThe aim of the thesis was determining dependences for Herschel-Bulkley rheological model to be applied to technological drilling fluids. Its realization lied in introducing necessary mathematical formulae, and working out a research stand for laboratory evaluation of hydromechanical effects taking place in the analyzed fluids. The algorithms developed out in the thesis enabled determining rheological parameters of the Herschel-Bulkley model and calculating fluid flow resistance in the specific places of the circulation system of the borehole. Then followed methodics of determining equivalent viscosity, general Reynolds number and Fanning friction loss factor. Based on the laboratory tests and analyses of the obtained results, numerical programs were elaborated. They aided both identification of a rheological model which best describes real drilling fluid, and facilitated calculation of fluid resistances in the circulation system o a borehole. Finally, the author proves the thesis that: „Herschel-Bulkley fluid model most accurately describes drilling fluids and should be applied in industrial conditions".
