    In recent years, the advanced nanomaterials based on single, delaminated mineral layers are of a great interest. The aim of this study was to investigate the delamination of hydrotalcites - synthetic, anionic clays. The process was carried out, using the samples modified organically with anionic surfactants and then dispersed in solutions of long-chained alcohols. As a result, stable colloidal solutions were obtained. The number of analyses (XRD, XRD in a suspension, FTIR) were employed to investigate the effect of delamination. However, the interpretation of them appears to be doubtful. Additionaly, the delaminated monolayers of hydrotalcite and smectite were further used in an attempt to synthesize a layer-by-layer, mineral nancomposite.
