Google Trends jako narzędzie użyteczne dla badaczy niepełnosprawności

Each day, the Google search engine is used to perform millions of searches by users around the world looking for relevant information. A lesser known service by Google is Google Trends, which allows to examine the popularity of certain keywords, or more precisely - shows trends at a specific time and in a specific area regarding the given word. The article presents various methods in which Google Trends can be incorporated to study the phenomenon of disability by researchers, including sociologists, psychologists, special education workers or welfare politicians. These methods do not only concern observing trends, but also studying the cyclical nature of phenomena, contexts in which specific concepts appear, and changes in the language that describes various disabilities.

The fast development of computer science oriented on capturing, processing and distribution of geoinformation (geoinformatics), which has applications in many technical and natural disciplines of science and technique, calls for urgent unification of professional terminology - for terminological dictionary. The presented open formulae computer program for creation of dictionary assumes the use of internet to continuously present the content of the dictionary database. That way the dictionary is available for users, even during the editorial activity, when it is not completed yet. The open formulae assumes also participation of volunteers in the editorial work via discussion over the existing entries and definitions, as well as via proposing their contributions to the dictionary contents. The project was initialized and is organized by the Geoinformatics Commission of The Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Krakow. The dictionary program was prepared by, and dictionary data base is installed on the server of the Department of Photogrammetry and remote sensing informatics. The experimental of pertaining computer program is ready for use in the internet.

lnteractive Internet systems are the main subject of thesis. In the situation that the time range between changing system offers is comparable to the time range of user’s interaction - time of preparing and making an offer - we can say about the system with high - frequency offers. These systems are called lnteractive Internet Systems Realizing Sevice of High-Frequency Offers (in Polish: ISIROSO) in this dissertation. It was proposed and researched the correctness of ISIROSO architectures efficient models. The particular model was created and verified in the first stage. It was finished to succeed that allowed working out good basis to create models for complicated ISIROSO. It was proved effective use of formal (Petri nets) and non-formal (CSIM packet) instruments to assist the ISIROSO modeling and analysis. Models are verified in the real reference system. It helped to work out recommendations "how build" balanced system on the base of the architecture choosing solutions -clusters and replications. The put thesis specified the scope of research to only one Internet system class. It was decided on proving the thesis by formulating original modeling method based on the combination of formal and non-formal methods. Constructed efficient models allowed to research of the reply time. It was achieved the balanced system by the using layers and databases and clusters replication. Simulations and experiments, which were carried out, reveal the usefulness of suggested method.

Otwarty charakter encyklopedii. Wikipedia jako źródło informacji w cyfrowym świecie

The paper’s aim is to explore the evolving nature of an encyclopaedia in the era of participatory culture. First, the article claims that there is no sense to pigeonhole Wikipedia as an encyclopaedia. To explain this statement, Wikipedia’s functional features against traditional knowledge compendia like an encyclopaedia are analysed. Second, it refers to empirical research outcomes on the Wikipedia’s reliability. Finally, the article closes with thoughts on a virtual encyclopaedia that is an interesting case of a network organisation in the era of participatory culture. It also points out research directions important to understand this phenomenon from the humanistic perspective.

Postawy polskich użytkowników internetu wobec nadzoru obecnego w sieci

In last few years collecting personal data by internet is largely discussed social problem. This internet surveillance is carried out by public or commercial organizations. In contrast to older, panoptic type of surveillance the new, digital one does not have to be carried out covertly. Surveilled persons know about surveillance, do not fear of it, and want to be surveilled. I conducted research about internet surveillance in 2017 and 2019. It has shown users’ tendency to reveal great amount of information about themselves. Their level of fear of surveillance is getting smaller, and their level of hope of some favors from surveillance increases. The fact of being surveilled in some fashion make users feel better. The research conclusion is that internet users accept surveillance but they expect some benefits in exchange for their data which is profitable for surveillers.
