It is characterized by outstanding geodiversity, revealed in abundant, surface and subterranean karst landforms, as well as protracted history of karst evolution which can be traced back to the Mesozoic. An additional value is provided by the presence of cultural heritage, related to exploitation and processing of mineral resources genetically linked to the karst environment. The significance of this area is further enhanced by easy access to karst landforms and phenomena. Five caves, each of different morphology, can be visited. A dense network of educational trails, marked paths, forestry and field-access roads allows the visitor to reach all interesting features of karst morphology.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Geochemia krasu ascenzyjnego w jednej z jaskiń Doliny Kluczwody(Data obrony: 2016-09-29) Góra, Wiktoria

Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe thesis: Geological conditions of exploitation of Carboniferous limestone „Czatkowice” deposit has been done after undergoing a diploma apprenticeship carried in Limestone Mine “Czatkowice” in Krzeszowice, written due to personal experience and available geological reports. All observations done as well as cartographical works in the excavation allowed to follow internal design deposit (lithological variability of rock layers, tectonic and karstic phenomenon).”Czatkowice” deposit has a very complicated and sophisticated internal structure. The phenomena and karst formations are undesirable from the perspective of raw materials as they may lead to a reduction in the quality of minerals and therefore may diminish the possibility of its use. Existing tectonic disturbances make exploitation difficult, reduce the quality of minerals and provide migration paths for water. However, the need for removal of overburden pulp adversely affect the economic conditions of the project. Currently, due to the hydrogeological conditions it is impossible to working at the level called 310.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Geotouristic attractiveness of the show caves of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland area(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Dzięgiel, MaciejIn this paper, six scenic caves situated in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland area were the subject for comparative research, considered as very essential examples of underground geotouristic attractions, displaying karst forms completely different from each other. These include: Smocza Jama Cave (Dragon's Den) in Kraków city, Łokietek and Ciemna (Dark) Cave at Ojców, Wierzchowska Górna Cave at Wierzchowie, Nietoperzowa-Zygmunta Cave at Jerzmanowice and Głęboka (Deep) Cave at Podlesice. The first five caves are situated in the southern part of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and the last one, in its northern part. All of them are situated in the Silesian-Kraków Monocline. These caves developed in the Upper Jurassic (Oxfordian) massive limestones. Their karst forms are various and picturesque. Numerous animal remnants and traces of different prehistorical cultures were discovered and collected by researchers within and around three caves situated within the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland area. The geotouristic attractiveness of all six caves was demonstrated by their comparative geotourism valorisation evaluation adapted to meet tourists', educators' and investors' expectations and needs. The statistical data of the annual number of visitors at these objects were also discussed. In general, interest in these caves as geotouristic abiotic nature objects has been growing regularly up until today. They have become very widely known in Poland. Moreover, the Smocza Jama Cave, associated with the Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill, and the Łokietek Cave have become very popular worldwide.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Geoturystyczne aspekty w udostępnionych jaskiniach Wyżyny Krakowsko-Wieluńskiej(Data obrony: 2010-10-28) Wilk, Zuzanna

The stocktaking and documentation of the karstification forms has been done before. As a literature overview, this paper deals with history of documentation, paleontological and archeological researches, genesis, diversity of the karstification forms, specific microclimate, fauna and flora, as well as with the touristic developed area of: The Ciemna Cave, The Łokietka Cave, The Nietoperzowa Cave, The Smocza Jama Cave and The Wierzchowska Górna Cave.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ground Penetrating Radar investigation of limestone karst objects in the Botanical Garden in Kielce(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2016) Zieliński, Artur; Łyskowski, Mikołaj; Mazurkiewicz, EwelinaGround Penetrating Radar (GPR) is one of the most effective and rapid types of geophysical survey methods. The present study was carried out in the Botanical Garden in Kielce, which is currently undergoing a second stage of infrastructure development. This object is located in the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Region, characterized by large scale deformations in the development of karst origins. Those structures threaten existing buildings and can be obstacles to newly constructed ones. Radargrams presented in this paper show significant potential of the GPR method in mapping of karst phenomena. Proper acquisition parameters and optimal processing of raw data resulted in a clear image of the structure of rock mass under the Botanical Garden, along acquired profile lines. Additionally, precise GPS coordinate links and established researchers’ experience of conducting this type of surveys helped in the process of mapping the anomalies in the limestone. Under these conditions, the survey minimized the need for a second method and resulted in high quality data acquisition. The study provided information about underlying rock mass structure development and registered anomalies whose origins include voids or caves of karst genesis. The area studied covers a large part of the Botanical Garden. Described anomalies can be dynamic in origin.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Hydrogeologiczne właściwości dewońskich skał węglanowych w masywie świętokrzyskim(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2006) Rzonca, BartłomiejThe monograph concerns the regional-scale research done on the identifying hydrogeological properties of Devonian limestone and dolomites. There were examined the properties of the hydraulic subsystems of the entire massifs: rock matrix, fissures, karst voids and the residual deposits filling the karst voids. The results demonstrated clearly insignificant role of the matrix (also as water storage), the hydraulic role of the karst forms is also strongly limited by the fillings properties. The essential part of the publication is a reinterpretation of the regional set of pumping test results (218 wells) in steady-state conditions. The evaluation demonstrated very high, random variability of the environment. The interpretations of some unsteady-state tests exactly confirmed the values obtained from the steady-state conditions pumping.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Mineralogical investiogation of weathering of cretaceous limestone. An example of phenomenon, Prachodna Cave near of Roman, North Bulgaria(2015) Pawlikowski, Maciej ; Bożęcki, Piotr; Buszkiewicz, Urszula; Mandera, Sara; Rędziak, JakubBadania archeologiczne jaskiń Prachodna i Temnata prowadzone były w latach 80. XX wieku i posiadały charakter multidysciplinarny. Wyniki badań prowadzonych w trakcie ekspedycji zostały opublikowane w książkach i artykułach (Kozłowski, Laville, Ginter, 1992, Pawlikowski 1992, 2010, Sirakov 1992). Prezentowana publikacja jest poświęcona procesowi wietrzenia wapieni, w których występują wspomniane jaskinie oraz ich przeobrażeniu się w residuum zwane terra rossa. W 2014 roku prowadzono badania terenowe, natomiast laboratoryjne w 2015 roku. Used in the study chemical-physical analysis of karst water samples and results of the interconnected porosity coefficient measured in rock samples collected in the cave. Results of the analysis indicated a typical karst water low water mineralization, defined two chemical types: HCO3-Ca-Mg and HCO3-Ca. The interconnected porosity coefficient indicates that the cave is developed in rocks of low porosity.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Warunki hydrogeologiczne w utworach czwartorzędowych w rejonie pomiędzy Chechłem a Grabową - część wschodnia(Data obrony: 2017-10-02) Bojkowski, Jerzy
